Lyn67 has some great suggestions to broaden my use of the app. I'll look into how to tag my outfits going forward. Thanks, Lyn67.

Another StyleBook fan here. I am religious about keeping it up to date. I've only started creating looks this year. Because I am so visual, looks have proven to be incredibly helpful. The idea of including notes is new to me. It makes sense that notes would only add to the usefulness of the app. I've recommended to all my friends.

I also love Stylebook and have used all the features mentioned above. May I add, I have some special "closet categories" for items I store away from my main closet, the things I edited, and the things I returned (especially helpful as I tend to forget my purchasing mistakes (especially out of season). Also have make-up purchases, wish lists, or gift ideeas. I keep track of my Hubby's main clothes as well (as shirts, sweaters, and jeans-including sizes, brands and prices) very useful cause I am his personal buyer, too!:-).

As for the "looks" I tend to add not only closet items, but a pictie of the actual outfit on me, too. Then, I group them around the category of the main clothing item (usually the bottoms for me, say If I have a category of "cigarette pants" in the "Closet", will have a category of "cigarette pants" in the "Looks", too-easier to fiind what i want. But also have some special looks, too, say "dressy", "Xmass", "Easter", "Theater","Beach",.. etc.

Oh, and I also tag my outfits in the "Calendar", too. Tagging them with the name of the actual month, even some other succint marks (for ex. the main clothing items, or Place/Event). That way I cann for example recall in a list all my outfits worn in the same month of all the years I kept treck of them since using Stylebook (2019 February). Endless opportunities here.

I am a very visual person, and I may have even abused my Stylebook app/phone memory card with too many picties...:-(. My concern now is how long in time you can keep track of your items/lists/outfits without the need of edit/erase older ones(?).

I collect looks because some ensembles are PERFECT and I want to remember them for future reference. There is a note section that I use to add my thoughts.

Looks also help the opposite way. If that outfit made me feel less than fabulous, I make a note. If at all possible, I try to figure out why it didn't work. Obviously I don't want to repeat outfits that didn't make me feel fabulous.

You can instantly add a look or a item to a pacing list. I like to add the entire look. Style Book breaks down the look into pieces and asks if I want to add them to my "capsule." I usually do. It is quite efficient.

When I review looks I see patterns in what I considered my most successful outfits. Those patterns bear repeating for me.

Although I wish I added every single component to looks (shoes, bags, jewelry, coats, scarfs), I don't. I focus on pants and tops and shoes. I always assume I'lll remember everything else. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don't.

Did you know you can import your clothing items directly from the internet? That cuts down on the work considerably.

I definitely buy less since getting Stylebook and in answer to your other question,no the virtual outfits don’t alaways work in real life but they generate ideas about new outfit combos when I haven’t got time to try things on.

Roxanna! Those screen grabs are just what I needed. Thank you.

A question for all you users of Stylebook—has it changed your shopping and wear patterns of your existing wardrobe? In what ways? I find that I feel more satisfied with the wardrobe I have and less like I need to add things to it. Perhaps because I can “see” everything I have so easily, and all together.

I’m always here for a discussion on Stylebook

I use the Looks feature extensively to capture outfits I put together (see attached screen caps.) i also use the inspiration feature.

And I use tags too - in the description I’ll tag an item as thrifted, or poser of my earth tone capsule, or holiday wear, or whatever - then when I search that term it easily brings up what I have. (This is invaluable because I have a large closet - so when I spot something I think might be good for the holidays, I can easily bring up all my other pieces that I wear them to see if it works with them, for example.)

I also fill out the brand, color, season and price fields and that has been invaluable to see the makeup of my wardrobe.

Cardiff girl, thank you! I love the idea of using wish list items to build virtual outfits to decide whether or not to buy. I will try that. Do you find when you put an outfit together virtually the proportions feel right when you put it on in real life as well?

Sterling, what a great idea to use the packing list feature that way. Do you use the looks feature as well, and find you use it for inspiration?

BIG FAN of Style Book! I use the calendar, looks, and packing lists. I use the packing lists to substitute for capsules. The system works great. Did you have any questions about looks? Perhaps I can help.

I git Stylebook last year and like you I have found it tremendously useful.l use the looks as a virtual style tool and then whenI get the time I try the outfit in real life.If it works I categorise it ie into day wear so that I can refer to it on those days I have nothing to wear.l also put un bought but wanted items into the wish list and then build virtual outfits with my pre existing closet to check I have enough things that go with the wanted item already in my closet.l hope that this makes sense.

Rachy, it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. It was fairly easy to find pictures online of a lot of the items, even if they're just being sold by someone else on Poshmark! That saved a lot of time. A few categories, like t-shirts, I just pulled out in a stack and quickly photographed on a hanger against a white closet door. It took maybe a week of doing a category a day or so to get it in there. And I didn't bother with some categories--pjs, socks, undies, camisoles, jewelry, etc.

notsaf, did you use the "Looks" feature? I haven't really figured out what it's for:)

I’ve watched the forum for some time and haven’t dipped my
toe in any of the challenges, but the SYC one really has been timely for me. I saw many forum members putting their wardrobes into Finds, and that got me off the fence and finally using the Stylebook app that I purchased back in September(!) The process of looking at my wardrobe and putting the photos into Stylebook really has helped me to understand what I actually have. I also love the wear tracking and most worn/least worn feature. Seeing my wardrobe laid out in such a visual way has helped me see that I’m keeping a few things that just don’t work, and of course helping me wear things I’d passed by for newer items. It's been a bit sobering to see exactly how much I have. And also really enlightening to see that my coats, shoes, and gear are the most worn, so spending more dollars per item on those are probably justified, vs. one more pair of jeans in a category that's already bloated with choices.

Thanks to all the forum members that have provided the motivation for me to get started! Any other Stylebook users out there? If so, how have you used the "Looks" feature?
