Definitely something for me to keep front of mind because I do think "exactly where am I going to wear this..." with items such as jeans, well, lots of places. With sequins, it is a bit harder to add to the list. Stylefan - I love the plaid dress too. Such great colours in the plaid, it reminds me of Burberry (but without the hefty price). Slim Cat - The tux inspired jacket is lovely, not really a tux, but a nice twist on a classic. Definitely the sort of item that is great to wear to work and feel fab in. Rachy - NOOOO we all need your humour and wonderful insights. You are not allowed to give up on us and get all serious. kkards - quirky bags are much easier for me to still feel that they are fun but not dominating a look, maybe because when at work, my bag is generally out of sight and only I know that I have it with me.  Suz - the goal is to not buy more black, but it will be interesting to see if this translates to reality. Something will have to be super special or replace a basic for me to purchase it in black. I am finding myself asking "what other colours does this come in" and trying to find a way to get those to work rather than defaulting to black. It will be interesting to see if you miss not purchasing black. Possibly not, since you have enough in the closet now. I wonder whether this year's limitation will end up changing the balance in the closet over time.  The distinction between fun and bold interests me as well. I used "playful" in my descriptor last year (and this year as well) but perhaps will want to move away from whimsy also.  SO with you are accepting the climate I live in. Of course the goals are aspirational and the practical needs to have a very large role to play because I live a very normal life and will not be giving up lounge wear any time soon. Synergy - evolving my style is important, so I don’t feel constrained or bored with my wardrobe. Cardiff Girl - I am hoping that 2020 will be a year of more considered purchases and making the most of what I have in my wardrobe with a few well chosen pieces to freshen things up. Also the forum posts on the environmental impact of consumerism has resonated with me. Notsaf - keeping things practical will be the key to having a wardrobe that actually works, rather than for some fantasy life. Vildy - I love the plaid dress too. It was so sad because it is a Karen Miller dress which is a label that is no longer available locally in Australia. Liesbeth - thank you, I assure you prior to YLF that was not the case. More classic, conservative and dull. Over the last 5 years I have enjoyed adopting a bolder style and colour. Nemosmom - what a lovely compliment. In 2020 I want to be a bit more grown up and sophisticated without sacrificing fun. For new purchases, I want to apply these style descriptors: Glamorous - This encompasses the polished and feminine elements I aspired to in 2019. I love the looks from Hitchcock muses such as Tippy Hendren and Kim Novak, I want to embrace this more in 2020. Sophisticated - Wear tailored and well cut clothing. I feel like being less maximal and more considered in my styling. Bold - to keep the fun in my style, but less juvenile. Of course Owl bags are bold not juvenile (just saying the Owl is here to stay)! I have lots of clothes and need to wear and enjoy them rather than add to the collection in 2020. So these style descriptors apply to my new additions which is an evolution from my style in 2019. Wardrobe Goals 1. Focus on quality and fit. This is key, if something does not fit quite right I feel out of sorts all day. I need clothing that makes me feel confident and polished and be fuss free. 2. Be practical - Mantra "buy the most stylish version of practical". Accept that I live in a warm and temperate climate and do not need any more winter coats. 3. No more black - I have a good collection of black items, I don't need any more of my favourite neutral. 4. It must be a 10  To refresh and update I can be fussy because I have enough clothing to wear. No substandard purchases allowed. 5. Be on Team Wear - enjoy and wear my good clothes, jewellery, bags and accessories. Some of my favourite purchases from 2019 are below and a good indication of where I want my style to go in 2020. 1. Pink linen shirt - great summer cover up and easy and breezy to wear in a beautiful colour.  2. White tux suit - love the lighter colour and clean lines 3. Favourite dresses 4. Blue bag - classic shape, vibrant colour!
