Kimlee, excellent goals! It is inspiring to read. For me, I want to try more combinations and post more WIWs. I want to NOT OVERTHINK my outfit. Just try stuff and enjoy!

Nail - That is a fantastic goal!

Shedev - Sometimes the goal is simply to keep working on the project you've already started. I've been part of YLF for 3 years, and I am still working.

Claire - Thank you, dear. Keep your fingers crossed that I find some gems in the pants department.

Kristin - Thank you. Borrow any goal you'd like.

Beth Ann - I agree.

Suz - The community is my favorite part of YLF. The increased style is just a side benefit!

Carole - Those are great goals!

I relate to many of your style goals, Kimlee. Somehow it just helps to get it in writing, don't you think? This is what I posted on Angie's blog today:

I have been dragging my feet about pinning down my style goals and even my style persona, I’m not sure if it’s because I don’t feel confident enough to decide, the fact that sometimes I feel like I have multiple style personalities, or if I’m being rebellous! But, dang it, I’m ready to commit!

*Hone my style and closet to reflect my preferences for Refined, Classic and Modern with tiny doses of a trend that is flattering

*Make shopping list of actual needs and limit impulse buys.

*Focus on adding “quality” items for workhorses, shoes and bags

*Determine a color palette (2 neutrrals and an accent) for each season

*Continue taking WIW photos

Phew! That wasn’t too difficult. I feel so much better now!

I think it's terrific that we choose the middle of winter -- the darkest time of year -- to make new starts. Your plan sounds terrific.

Great goals Kimlee! Like Claire, I may borrow a few. I really like how you've worded the shopping one.

Kimlee, those are great goals; I might have to borrow a few of them, lol! I'm glad that you're not going to let the bumps in the road of life ruin the fun of fashion for you. Pants are so hard, so I'll be eagerly watching what you turn up. I think the goal of carrying your fab business style over into your off time is a great idea. Cheers!

I made a good start at developing my persona in 2012, I think I'm just continuing on this path in 2013.

After my hiatus from YLF, I went back and started reading my posts from the past 3 years. As I took a walk down memory lane, I stumbled upon a post I had titled "Style Goals for 2012". The words reminded of a young woman who began 2012 with excitement towards fashion - but then let health issues, changes in her body shape, and weight gain steal her joy. That young woman hid rather than embraced who she was...

And it made me sad.

Then I remembered all that I learned in 2012.

And that I have the power to do things differently in 2013. So I'm going to...

I'm starting by revisiting those style goals I had for 2012 - and rolling them in 2013.

1. Clearly and concisely define my style persona - Even though I haven't been active on YLF much the past year, I realize that I gravitate towards "Business Office Bombshell (ala MaryK) with a few unexpected twists for work. Now, I want to find a way to take this style and adapt it for life oustide of my office.

2. Shop with a clear purpose - This means taking another honest assessment of my wardrobe, making a list of the holes, then shopping to fill those holes. No buying a blouse just because it's on clearance if it's not needed in my closet.

3. Find stylish dress pants - My new job doesn't mind if my tattoo (Georgia Tech mascot on my inner right ankle) shows, so I can wear skirts and the like which means I have less of a need for pants. But I still want to increase my trouser selection. Suggestions here are welcome.

4. Create an inspiration folder - This is the one thing I did consistenly throughout 2012. I will continue in 2013.

5. Share my looks on YLF - without fear!

What are your style goals for this year?
