I t is amazing how much fun is in honing your own style, isn't it?<br />I&nbsp;am&nbsp; sharing few of your lessons:pixie - check, structure - check, selective and simplifying with accessories - check...the same goes for me too! </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/style-experimenting-and-lessons-learnedlong#post-1030066 Sun, 15 Sep 2013 13:49:17 +0000 Nova 1030066@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>Over the past year I have been experimenting with various aspects of my style.&nbsp; For background you should know that I grew up the only girl in a hoard of boys and now only have boys myself.&nbsp; I didn't really learn about style and such until discovering YLF.&nbsp; And boy have I been learning a lot!&nbsp; Some things I have learned over the past year of experimenting:</p> <p>1.&nbsp; I grew my pixie out into a just below the chin red bob.&nbsp; Result:&nbsp; I hate it!&nbsp; I constantly feel frumpy and it is heavy.&nbsp; I will be going back to my pixies and crops next month.&nbsp; I feel more polished and put together and just more me at this length.&nbsp; I also think a color change is in order.</p> <p>2.&nbsp; I added more skirts to my pants only wardrobe.&nbsp; Result:&nbsp; Straight skirts aren't very flattering, but pencil skirts work well.&nbsp; Nothing too short or I am uncomfortable no matter how it looks.&nbsp; Going to try a full skirt next.</p> <p>3.&nbsp; I also added new dresses:&nbsp; Result:&nbsp; Fit and flare is lots of fun.&nbsp; Before I often only wore dresses that surrendered the waist.&nbsp; I found a sheath I will try this fall and am on the hunt for a body con to try.&nbsp; I had lots of growth in this area, accepting my body and not trying to hide it.</p> <p>4.&nbsp; Learned that I am craving more structure.&nbsp; I couldn't figure out what was bothering me about some of my perfectly good outfits.&nbsp; I discovered that swapping a blazer or structured topper for the cardi completely heightened my happiness factor.&nbsp; Who knew?</p> <p>5.&nbsp; Being selective in accessory choices is important.&nbsp; Over the past year of experimenting I have found I want to be more selective in my choices.&nbsp; I also want them to be less fussy.&nbsp; Before I would load up an arm with lots of bangles and beads, now I prefer a watch and a cuff.&nbsp; Simple.</p> <p>Thanks for reading this rather long post.&nbsp; I appreciate you sharing in all&nbsp;the discoveries I have been making and for all the suggestions, encouragement, and advice I have received as I make this journey.&nbsp; </p>
