I am loving these style descriptors! I need to make a list of these descriptors and take them with me when shopping. Adelfa and Deborah, I tried to come up with a variety of outfits that I would wear for different occassions. It's fantastic that all of you wonderful ladies are able to get to the core and come up with the underlying styles - I end up looking at the pics and saying, "It looks like someone threw up here!"

Suz, I am chuckling at your response about drama - I teach high school, no extra drama needed:)
And the drama begins again in one week....

Soft dramatic.

I'm just using Kibbe's terms, but that's what I see on the board, too. The contrast between modern classic clean lines and flowing boho inspired looks. Modern classic is the core, but you crave and need more drama and at times more femininity.

Hooray! It's exciting to see what you've come up with!

I definitely see preppy (American Classic?) and equestrian looks. I also spy, with my little eye, some Dior New Look. The floaty pieces threw me off a bit, but as I keep going back to the boards, some thoughts emerged...

There is quite a variety here, which is exciting. I see modern, trend, classic and boho, though not in equal amounts. I would suggest that you are particulalry drawn to dressy casual, maybe because that suits you overall lifestyle? and then very classy lady like styles which might be for work or special occasions?

Wow Pawprints, that's so insightful! Thank you for taking the time to do that. You really hit the nail on the head - I'm not sure if my style is just all mixed up, or is evolving in some way. A lot of what I really like - long, flowy, pieces - I never buy or wear because I never see anyone else wearing it, and I think I would look silly. I have been trying these pieces in small doses, and in increasingly bigger doses, and the looks I posted I would actually wear/have worn.

But on the other hand, I do love the straight lines of a beautifully tailored article of clothing.

I do like to keep people guessing :)

Interesting. Like shevia, I see preppy. Or more specifically WASP. But not WASP at home in New England. More like WASP with a twist - went to New Mexico or Morocco, and had the good sense to come home... Hehe, welcome to my world; only I'm the sort without the good sense to come home.

You don't by any chance like gin and saltines, do you?

Ooh Karie, you are a challenge.

I see two different styles on the board. First, Modern sporty-preppy, which fits with your profile description as a sporting person and with your Demure Bombshell and Girly Tomboy personas. Structured, functional, traditional, feminine. That's 6 of your 10 photos.

The other four are a complete departure. Very What's Now. Your Fashionista persona. Dramatically flowy, unstructured, oversized, fashiony, of the moment.

Both sides are beautiful representations of their types.

What I see in common is this:
1. Simplicity. There is a clear message and relative unfussiness in all the images, even if the messages are different. This isn't eclectic or eccentric or let's-just-be-Different in any of the looks. It is what it is in a forthright, fairly pure and also strongly attractive representation.

2. Romance. Not ruffles and bows and curls romance. But still. The demure bombshell is romantic. Polka dots, waistlines, female touches over underlying structure.

The plaid sporty is romantic in the way of fondness for the reliability and integrity of tradition and functionality. The romance of Yankee tradition.

Then there is the fashionista romance. Wow. The drape and flow and goddess-ness of it. Not the hard-edged origami flatness of current lines. It's the fluid grace of a royal femininity.

All of the looks say strong female, but in very different ways.

Maybe you have these different sides of yourself that have common roots, like strong female, and you're always going to express them in strikingly divergent ways. That's cool.

Maybe you're in a style evolution, trying out different ways to express something in a variety of ways, and one will win out. Perhaps you're transitioning from one style to another and it's too soon to feel or see it gel.

Maybe you're one complex gal and will always keep 'em guessing, sometimes even yourself.

Either way, it must be an adventure.

After reading La Belle Demimondame's post on style descriptors,
What Style Descriptor(s) would you use? in which she mentioned posting 10 outfits on Pinterest that you would wear as posted, I decided to give it a go.

Here are mine (there are now 20 outfits):
http://pinterest.com/jazzandjo.....-pictured/

what style descriptors would you give me?

Edit: Per Adelfa's suggestion, I added more photos on Pinterest. Now there are 20!
