Thanks Texstyle! You're right, I think it's important to make the distinction between gear and the outdoorsy inspired stuff I like.

Thanks Caro! I think I really have to focus on this whole juxtaposition thing. That's one thing I haven't done much. I think I also need more clothes that give structure, I definitely don't have enough items that do.

Thanks Anna! I didn't know them, I'm to young for that. I'll have a look, maybe I'll find some more pictures.

Thanks Gaylene! Natural was something that was said before. I think you can mainly see it in my fabric choices. I prefer natural fibers and I'd prefer suede booties over patent leather ones. I think I have two blouses that are a silk blend, but I don't have anything cashmere. I don't have a leather jacket, only shoes, bags and belts.

Thanks Jayne! Country girl is actually something that was said before, I didn't find the post, but someone said the style I was asking about would look a bit like british country girl (I think?). And you're right, it's definitely comfy feminine and not polished or too dressy. I think I'd love to look into that more! I guess I'm really a practical and down-to-earth person and my clothes need to reflect that.

Thanks Celia! Yes, you're right. I definitely don't like dressing too 'cute'. I also feel like many people think I'm younger than I really am. I mean I AM young, but I often don't get sorted into the same cathegory as all my friends or fellow students.

Thanks Kateykins! I like the term 'preppy-boho'. Can't wait to see what you do with your own style - I'll have to remember to look for inspiration.

Una, that sounds really great - "posh rustic British countryside"... I would love to see some of it.

I remember the Tweeds catalog! I used to drool over it back when I was in school and couldn't afford anything. Very posh rustic British countryside is what I remember of it.

Hi Astrid! I was looking at your pinterest boards and the other forum post you linked and it really resonated with me because I have been working on evolving a similar fashion style too. I like to describe my style as "preppy-boho" because I like a clean, minimalist silhouette with classic pieces like A-line dresses and cardigans, but with organic patterns (such as floral, tribal, and paisley) in earthy and neutral colors.

As the others been saying I see in your board the kind of outfits you wear, even if you don't do it on purpose.
The feeling I get is that maybe you are trying to cut a little bit on the cuteness of your outfits, being with some oxford shoes(that are more men inspired) or some rugged boots .

I tend to think of you as much younger than myself and I see your style evolution as a adding another layer of interest to your outfits as you are maturing and discovering yourself in other aspects of your life. But I guess the same applies to any age we may be in.

I see country girl. As in a girl who might be climbing on haystacks, walking in meadows, and so on. Someone who wears a dress, yes, but sensible rugged shoes as well. Not city, polished but comfy, feminine. And for the most I see it in your style also. Good thick sweaters, courderoy skirts, natural colors like rust, cream, brown. So do you want to go further with this?

I see a real juxtaposition in your Pins;
tomboy but feminine
structure & softness
I can see how these things would seem to be opposites but you combine them beautifully.

Astrid - I see outdoorsy, designer inspired classic design (not rugged in the sense of "gear"). Forest plaids and charcoal tones mixed with other pleasant nature inspired neutrals, berries and various clay and earth tones. Same colors and feeling I love in design. I don't want to be too manly, but I'm not into frilly either. I LOVE your pinterest board fashion area.

Thanks Shannon! I guess that's where the 'rugged' Aida mentioned comes in. Maybe I have to pay more attention that this juxtaposition of feminine and rugged?

Oh - thanks Lemonade! And you mentioned the romantic, we can't forget that! I'd definitely say that I like some things to have a romantic touch. Good to hear that I'm on the right way...

Thanks Una! I love the term feminine rustic - you're definitely right that the rugged I have in there is refined and with a feminine touch. And I agree, not sporty. I actually still have some days when I get dressed in a hurry and end up being way too sporty for my taste. The whole jeans, tee and sneakers thing.

Astrid, I definitely see a version of refined rugged in your choices - perhaps feminine rustic? Without the l.l. bean connotations of sporty, which I don't see as much...

What I see on your first Pinterest link (clothes and outfits) is YOU. Ok, so maybe you don't recreate each of those outfits, but I'm not seeing anything Punk, Bohemian, Uber Fashion, Ecclectic... I'm seeing you, romantinc, femenine, casual and comfortable (oh, and sweet and modest) Astrid

You might be moving towards that direction already, but I wouldn't say it differs so much from what you actually wear.

Thanks Ingunn. Casual is definitely right, as well as practical. I need practical clothes for all kind of weather and lots of walking. I'm not really dressy and I haven't yet needed to dress up in my everyday life. I also don't think that corporate wear is in my future. Definitely feminine, that's true. That's by the way something that people around me also said about my style when we were talking clothes some time ago. Although it's definitely not girly or frilly or full of bling or glitz or anything like that. I'm not sure if I can exactly say what I want or need to add, but I guess I want to implement these style pics more IRL. Maybe I could try to see what kind of things come up again and again and think about searching for concrete items similar to these. Not sure.

Thanks Kristin. Yes, these are my inspiration boards, with all things I really like. I try to pin only things that really resonate with me in a way so that I don't confuse myself further. I only started on Pinterest after a suggestion here on YLF to pin things to see if I could somehow get a clearer picture on my style goals. I'm not sure it's about the prints, I already have some in my wardrobe and also do often pattern mixing with my scarves. Although I wouldn't say no to some of the great prints on my pattern board.

Thanks Traci! That's really good to hear. I guess I'm already further than I thought.

I guess it's the time for these kind of posts, now I'm posting one too...

The main reason why I'm asking about this now is that Aida asked me something about my style goals in my last WIW post. She said "You know, on your Pinterest I see a lot of rugged items/inspiration... is this something you are planning to bring to your wardrobe? I think it would play really nicely with your style". And I was a bit mystified what she meant. The thing is, I'm always pinning stuff on Pinterest (and I love it), but I have no idea how to implement it IRL, never mind what to call it. I simply pin things that appeal to me in one way or another.

Here is my Pinterest style board, for those of you that don't know it yet:
https://pinterest.com/ridrin/style/
And the jewelry:
https://pinterest.com/ridrin/j.....nd-frames/
Pattern love:
https://pinterest.com/ridrin/patterns/

And here is the last thread I posted about my style definition:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ing-habits

I'm not exactly sure what I'm asking about, I guess I just want to try to focus anew on my style definition and goals to take it all a step further.

I know that looking at all these pictures is a lot to take in, but I'm glad about any input!

Thanks in advance.
