My Mum was always my biggest Cheerleader, she loved fashion and we had lots of fun on shopping expeditions together. She died in 2017 and I often think when dressing “Mum would have loved this”. For me, my love of fashion is a connection to my Mum and Grandmother.</p> <p>My female work colleagues are my cheerleaders, as is DH. The peek of red at the neck, bookending the shoes is genius, and the poncho is a good colour and looks cozy to boot. Legs look miles long. DH (bless his heart) just doesn’t ‘get’ fashion, trends, or my interest in it. He never volunteers an opinion, or judges, and I do get compliments from time to time - usually when I’m wearing a fit and flair silhouette with a belted waist. Very predictable. </p> <p>I once asked him what kind of an outfit he would put together, if asked to ‘style’ me. He described a plaid skirt with pleats, a white blouse with a bow at the neck, and black pumps. DH’s parents were from Scotland, and I think his mum’s ‘going out’ outfit is strongly imprinted on him. Or, maybe his dad’s!
