To be honest, I see clothes like this, with the high rise and super wide shorts, frequently while thrifting! I don't know if you could find a pair that looked modern vs dated, but it might be worth a look.

You could try etsy. I did find these on a cursory search:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/76.....ref=market

They're made to order, so you could get them shorter than in the picture.

This might still be hard, though, since I imagine you'd have to be pretty knowledgeable about what measurements would be good for you. Since culottes aren't in the stores, it might be hard to know how large a circumference the legs should be, what a flattering length would be, etc.

Those are pretty but I agree about the price.
Sorry that I have not seen better priced ones. Hopefully someone else will contribute to your thread.

Any recommendations for structured culottes? Angie posted an article about culottes in October, and some of the examples were stunning, but sadly out of my price range. I saw these ones by See by Chloe and really like them, but at that price, they would need to count as an investment garment. Even if culottes are fringe or a fad, I'd really like to get a pair because they are utterly practical--like a skirt, but way more bike friendly.
