Velma, you're on the right track. I get all my boots stretched for my "athletic" calves but if it only needs just a nudge, they will stretch on their own.

I'm sorry! They're these, in the lightest color (banana):
http://www.thefryecompany.com/.....hing-horse

I have been wearing them today over straight-leg jeans--bunchy, for the extra bulk!--and they seem to have stretched about 1/4" at the top edge. That may give me the space I need over my slimmest skinny jeans.

sarah has the frye campus boots that she wears with dresses and skinnies. It is a rare trick though. Usually boots either work with skinnies or dresses but not both. If you have them stretched too much by a shoemaker, they will be too wide to wear with skirts.

I just bought these beauties in the banana color:
http://www.thefryecompany.com/.....hing-horse
I've worn them twice, and I'm becoming a little concerned about the fit at the top of the boots.

These campus boots are vintage-styled, with a straight shaft, 15" tall. They are roomy over the ankles, with plenty of room over the widest part of my 14" calf. But this is the first pair of boots I've ever had that pinches at the top of the boot! I think the problem is that I have very long calves (17" from anklebone to knee, with a 34" inseam), and these hit me a little further below the knee than they are meant to.

So, these boots feel all right over tights (the top of the boot sits right against my leg, but they're not uncomfortable). My worry is over skinny jeans. I really want to be able to tuck jeans into the boots, but I found it barely possible--the boots are so snug around the jeans at the top that they "grab" the fabric and create a lot of wrinkles.

My question: will the tops of the boots stretch if I just wear them with jeans a few times? (The leather is butter-soft.) Should I take them to a cobbler and have the top stretched? How much (1/2"? More? Less?)? Other ideas?

Sigh. I really want to keep the boots and make them work--I just love the color and stitching.
