Just so you don't think it is only a female issue, my sons have stretch marks, too. They have them on their bellies and on their arms especially, although neither is terribly large in either area. They are angry red now, like all stretch marks are when they are new, but they will fade to silver white, the same way mine from pregnancy have faded and the same way their father's from growing have. It is shocking now, but this is a normal part of puberty for many young men and women.

This is a result of growing and your inherent skin which is prone to stretch marks.

Nobody will notice your stretch marks. Especially if you are tall. They'll notice you are tall, not your stretch marks. And, they will fade with time and be unnoticeable.

Please don't spend your next decade or so wishing away your stretch marks. There's so much more to life, I hope you don't miss it wallowing in self-hate. Look out not at.

Plus, it's a gift to be tall. Trust me, as someone who's only 5'0. There's more options for fashion. You'll make more money in your career (it's been proven). And you'll never feel back cramps sitting in movie seats or restaurant high chairs or just dang regular chairs because your feet don't touch the ground/ dangle.

I have some that never faded to match my skin tone (I am dark-skinned) and I admit that is something that bothers me when I wear a swimsuit.

I got stretch marks as a teen too, and I was thin. Until you mentioned this, I had forgotten about them. They did fade to a very light color, which is what allowed me to forget about them.

Sometimes people get stretch marks because their diet lacks enough zinc (mineral). When I had my babies, I was taking zinc in my prenatal vitamins and I got no stretch marks at all.

I have stretch marks on my belly from 2 pregnancies. It looks like a tiger tried to grab me from behind, but I got away! I wear a bikini at the beach anyway. What was once red has faded to silvery white and is hardly noticeable. My husband grew a lot one year and has stretch marks on the back of his legs from his a** to his knees. It is just part of being a human in an elastic body and is normal.

Mayou - I'm so sorry. I can imagine how upsetting that is. You can't control stretch marks. You didn't do one thing wrong. But some people's skin is very stretchy and some, like yours, is like silk and gets little tears in the structural layer as it grows. Although they will fade to white in time and be very subtle, talk to your parents. New stretch marks can be treated with strong retin-a and that can help minimize their appearance and speed the improvement. See if they will take you to a dermatologist to discuss treatment options.

My sister and I had them too, during our teen/puberty years. They faded after just a few years when I stopped growing. Don't forget that most fashion photos are airbrushed, like Donnat says!

Listen to what lisa p says, she is very wise. Most women and men have some stretch either from growing or babies. Try not to give them another thought. I think the only people totally free of stretch marks are air brushed models.

I have a 21 year old daughter who got stretch marks on her hips and thighs when she was a younger teen. She was growing a lot - simple as that. They are not noticeable now, and not even on her radar. All the oils in the world can't prevent them - and all you can do is keep your body healthy while it grows, and appreciate the strength of your legs and hips and all that they allow you to to in your day to day life. And trust me: they are far more noticeable to you than to any other living human. Don't let this consume your head space .

Definitely not alone. Got my first tummy stretch mark at 12. Boobs at 14. I have them all the places you do and no one but me ever focused on them. I don't anymore. It's part of life for most women but I am so sorry it's distressing you.

Many women get stretch marks even in their teens as their bodies change (or more often during pregnancy), and very often the stretch marks will fade in time. Please don't beat yourself up about this. I'm sorry it makes you feel ugly. You are not ugly, and you are not alone!

I'm writting this post because I feel so depressed,
I'm French, I'm 16 years old, quite tall (5"6), I'm not fat but I'm not skinny either, we will say "full". Few months ago I noticed stretch marks on my thighs. I was a little big shocked but I couldn't do anything so I told myself " it's just few stretch marks I shouldn't worry" but then it appeared on my hips, then on my inner thighs on my little love handles and on my butt. Each day it seems that I give birth to more and more stretch marks ! yesterday I dressed myself to go to school and I discovered a stretch mark on my breast ! It's crazy because I don't even have a big breast! I have a B-C cups how can I have stretch marks there ?! I feel so depressed and ugly really each time I look myself in the mirror in the bathroom I want to cry... I tried Bio-oil months ago but it didn't works, I try argan oil but it didn't works... My only hope is a laser treatments when I will be 18
I really don't feel well about that...
