Thanks, Joy, for the links - the first one I remember, the second was pre-YLF for me and I haven't seen it before. The sweater I have on is pretty chunky, and it's navy, just like the skirt. The Gap lemming sweater from a few years back would probably work with this too.

Thanks everyone! I see all kinds of pudges and buldges - some I did't even know I had - must be that fun-house mirror I have.

Karie, I like the medium and think that you just need to de-bombshell it for work. The pullover that you are wearing looks loose and long enough to do the job. The skirt is very pretty. I see no saddlebags.

Hmm well I still rather like the M. It looks more like a pencil. The L looks like a straight skirt and I don't find it as flattering. I see no saddlebags from here! Patterns are pretty good for masking a little extra wobbly bit here and there.

Staysfit, it does pass both the sit and walk tests. Staysfit, Suz, and Aida, after looking at the back view, I see saddlebags! I didn't even know I had those! Perhaps it should be either alter the L down or just return both. Drat! I really like the pattern and the lace hem.

Karie, which is easier to move around in? What happens to the hem line when you sit down? Does it ride up too high or is it still good? I hate a skirt that is hard to walk in. For work, it is never good if you can't sit comfortably in a skirt. If there is no difference, than post some pics and let us help you figure out if the M or L is the better fit. The M looks more attractive than the large in the pic but it's hard to tell from the front.

Karie, from the front I love the M. But I am weirdly attracted to body con or at least snug tailored in this tube skirt style, FWIW. It does not look too tight to me, but let's see a side view, too, if you are worried.

Honestly from the front I can't tell if it looks too tight. We might need some side views, and some sweater-pulled-up views.

Aida and KL, I do enjoy mixing classics with funky and that's what drew me to the graphic floral with lace in this skirt, and classic/fun/a bit of funky is a vibe I like to portray. In the size L there is A LOT of extra fabric in the hips. This skirt is shaped like () and I am shaped like [] and it's really noticeable in the L. If I was to hold up my sweater in a pic you would see all the extra fabric in that area, which I would have to take in.

So perhaps my real concern is if the size M appears too body con for work? I wear my VC tubes to work all the time, and the fit is similar, but maybe just a tad looser at the hem, if at all.

Oh Karie I share your struggle about sizing! I'm to the point where I order three sizes in everything, then try them on endlessly in order trying to decide which one is "right". Bleh. Ultimately I have to force myself to think about what exactly is the vibe I'm after with a particular item, whether or not I have something that offers this vibe, and determining if this particular item is actually a good candidate for it.

So! I will ask you the same questions I ask myself: Are you after or in need of a more typically nice fitting pencil skirt? If so, is this floral something you will love for a good while OR do you feel the need to mix up your classics with something funky? If this is to be a more trendy piece, then perhaps a looser fit could work with it. Will you feel too oversized when you pair your looser tops?

The size difference doesn't come across much in the photos. BUT to me the smaller size (#1) looks best at this longer length.

Oh how I agonize over decisions about size! Pic 1, size M (the size I usually buy in S-M-L skirts), pic 2 size L. I love the skirt even though it's body con, and I'm self-conscious in the skirt because it's body con. The size M actually seems like it fits fairly perfectly. It's snug and form fitting, but not tight feeling, and not too snug for walking. The size L would have to be taken in at least an inch on each side in the hips and waist, but then I would still have a looser fit. The pattern placement is slightly different on both skirts.

Does #1 look too tight, and if not, does it look work appropriate? Does #2 look too big? Am I rambling on and on? Ack! Your thoughts on this sizing matter are greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I added the requested size views (try not to gag when you see my pudgy belly), and put the sizing right on the photo. In the far right pic in #4 I am loosely holding out the extra fabric, in the middle pic it's just hanging there and looking bunchy.

I'm actually thinking the medium makes me look like I have saddlebags from the back (pic 3). Ugh!
