Thanks, with your help here, I had a great day.

kkards, after I posted this morning I started reading other threads. When I went to delurked's thread, lo and behold from kkard, delurked and krishnidoux, there was my answer. I did make this comment on delurked's thread. Gets confusing! Anyway after the discussion of Talbot's , I realized I needed to return a popover gingham top that I might have worn because I liked it so much, even though it did not fit wel

Suz , guess you already read the paragraph above. I wanted the gingham shirt to work. I never, ever tuck anything, but I tried tucking all that extra long fabric in my pink jeans. I never, ever, cut or crop anything myself, but considered doing so. LOL. Am going to exchange it for a nice ink blue fedora with pom pom's. With my pink jeans, I wore a slightly boho top. Small pink and coral floral , navy and cream background, with large denim color lace inset on top. It is shorter, but not so short I bared anything when I moved my arms or body, airy, floaty and so comfortable. I wore Levi two tone denim shoes , with a bright pink stripe and lining, and my cream fedora.

I think this may sound showy and tacky but actually it was simple and understated and most of all fun and festive. Suz, thanks for your kind words and all of you for seeming to understand why I put so much thought into my clothes for such an occasion as I had today

delurked, yes you and I do have some similar shopping habits. Of course I have had a lot more practice than you. It always makes me feel good when I hear a younger person does some of the same things I do. Today was the first time to wear the top I wore today. ... I had tried it on an estimated 20 times. It is from Steinmart and I had two weeks left to return. It is a winner. I never return anything after I have worn it. Unless, of course it is damaged or faulty. Thanks for the pic of Crush, he is my Buddy. He looks so calm and relaxed.

Isabel, thanks for your kind re-assurance. I agree with the acting comment. I do act like this is the real me, but you do not know the effort it is to be the real me. By the way, my hat was the topic today, several of our guests commented on it, other ladies and men , some I knew, some I did not. I bought a new red fedora this afternoon, as well as the ink one mentioned above.

Sometimes if I feel a little overwhelmed by my own emotional response to an event or gathering it really helps to dress the part almost like I'm an actor rather than myself. I try to think about what the audience would expect, like and feel comfortable seeing. I find this gives me a little space and makes me feel less vulnerable

And here is a pic of Crush for you. He is mostly sweet, but a permanent troublemaker.

If you often try on several times before making a final decision (I do that too), I would go with a tried and true top you feel good in, that isn't too dressy. Personally, I would go with jeans or dark pants, but that's because I'm messy. I'd aim for put together and respectful, but not too dressed up. Wear pieces you don't have to think about once you have them on. Your personality will come through in your fedora.

This is important work you are doing and how lovely that you are aiming to dress to bring cheer to the whole proceedings.

I agree with Kkards -- wear the combination of items that makes you feel most comfortable and least self-conscious. But also wear what feels fun and festive.

All things being equal, if it were me I might wear the gingham top, the pink pants, the white fedora. Or the top, fedora, and dark wash jeans. But I love gingham -- makes me happy. And I think a hat is a great conversation piece.

if this makes you feel emotional i would wear something that "give you a hug"...ie whatever for you is the dressing verision of comfort food. and given the activity, i would also wear something that is easy to move in.

Happy Sunday morning. Hope you are ready for me. I have been up over an hour thinking about something (and stressing, it is just my nature). And this is real and very serious to me.

O.K. At noon time today , I will be helping serve a meal for needy or homeless people. I have done this before. It is a very emotional thing for me. However, I do not express that feeling to anyone except here.

I went shopping yesterday and bought a navy and white gingham shirt, and a striped colorful tee, blue, pink white, navy and a dash of red. Probably will not wear either one, have to try on several times to be sure. Telling you this so you will get an idea what I like.

I have dark and light wash jeans, white, pink, and of course black pants, etc. I would like to wear a fedora hat, have a cream colored and a white one, semi dressy. Have plenty of tops.

I must stop and get this to you before it is time to go. LOL

Thanks for any and all comments.
