Shrunken navy blazer (I think cotton), singly buttoned over a white graphic tee. Often in neutral colours, not a lot of patterns and prints. Mid-thigh length to maxi.<br />- Breezy trousers like wide-leg linen pants, and track pant-esque styles in lightweight fabrics, both solids and patterns. Often worn with sleeveless lightweight blouses in cream or white (often a little see-through, people don't really mind that here - neither do I ;-)<br />- Short shorts worn with basic tees, tank tops and camis on the younger crowd.<br />- Some white jeans (mostly skinnies) and a pair of culottes here and there.<br />- Virtually everyone is sporting some sort of flat shoe. A few ballet flats, but mostly sandals (Birkies, and every other type of casual and dressy sandal) or fashion sneakers and more sportier sneaker styles. When I first arrived in Shreveport from Atlanta Georgia, it was kind of shocking to me. Shreveport is basically on the Texas line, so there's some commingling of culture. Shreveport ladies wear Texas bling and Texas people love crawfish boils. There's nothing wrong with people wearing those foam platform flip-flops or very embellished cowgirl boots, or carrying their Jesus-bling purses; it's just not me at all. My biggest problem with all that bling and embellishment is that I often see women wearing a big blinged out necklace and bracelet, while carrying a blinged out cross on camo (not very well) concealed carry purse while wearing tight shiny clothes and overly embellished footwear. It's hard to figure out where to look first with a look that has that much going on.</p> <p>And it's 1 part of something as best embodied by Sue Rawlings (wife of Richard Rawlings of "fast n loud" fame on TV, see 9th pic, the rest are other examples of the type of high end Texas bling I see at work and yes some of those are the real housewives of Dallas but that's the look I see a lot). There's nothing wrong with this look, it's just kind of the antithesis of my personal tastes LOL because it's very colorful.</p> <p>Disclaimer: to be fair to the DFW metroplex, I also see a not-statistically-insignificant number of people who kind of fit a hipster vibe or something, because they're into organics and local products and wear ethically/sustainably produced clothing that is kind of normcore. So it isn't all "redneck fancy" or "over-the-top Real Housewives of Wherever" but that's what makes the biggest impression on my visual receptors in my brain</p> <p>And sal, those are good pictures of what I see a lot around where I live. The immaculate fade rules!</p> <p>For women the black ankle pant with ballet flat is ubiquitous. Add dressy top of choice. Skirts and dresses short, with above knee tan trench over, and no skirt showing below. Ballet flats for the most part, though I'm starting to see a lot of loafers this spring.</p> <p>Closer to the big downtown mall there is more colour and variety as shoppers mix it up with office workers on lunch. The full crops/gaucho with rounded toe and block heel and off the shoulder/cold shoulder. Guys in full on athleisure (sweat suits and ball caps) line up outside the sneaker head boutique.</p> <p>A lot of ordinary capris and t-shirts or jeans with fleece jacket (tourist) with sneakers or gear sandals and youngsters (high school) in distressed denim and hoodie. Birks and really flat sandals/flip flops very popular.</p> <p>Hair seems to be mostly long, straight, and dark. Some dreads. Side cuts still popular. </p>
