It’s been warm here so not much hosiery. Stylings in shop windows have lots of wrap styles and floral patterns. </p> <p>Heading south to explore castles and villages and maybe a couple of beach spots, so expecting to see even more causal looks. We thought of going up to Edinburgh but the trip alone will eat up a whole precious day of travel time each way. I wore them in my school days and I still wear them now. It's rarely warm enough for bare legs so some people just wear them year round. I put a limit on it, I stop wearing them at the beginning of May and they don't go back on before September. I saw a fair number of wide leg pants, both full and cropped, for the first time since the 70s really.</p> <p>The one item that stood out to me, on a number of women, was a straight or skinny pant in black and white check. Usually high waisted, worn with a bigger sweater or shirt.</p> <p>In Edinburgh and Glasgow I saw a lot of that very UK thing, opaque black stockings and flat shoes worn with any kind of skirt or dress no matter how summery. The other look was clunky boots with a floaty floral dress, eg worn by the SAs at All Saints.</p> <p>Of course sneakers were everywhere. Plain white probably the most common. What surprised me was how many of the fall-fashion window displays were styled with white sneakers (I'm talking suits and dresses), or else the clunky boots.</p> <p>Chunky footwear on the ground, but in the air? I was aghast at the number of flip-flops! Not just in the youngsters in leggings or pjs; even mature women wearing elegant outfits with pretty flip-flops. Why? Considerations of safety aside, I always wear my bulkiest footwear on the plane, so I can only imagine their luggage consists of the less classy flip-flops.</p> <p>Colourwise in the stores and window displays: red and navy worn together; also lots of mustard.</p> <p>I didn't get any street style pics, but here's a shop display in Marks &amp; Sparks, also the Ted Baker window where I went to drool. </p>
