This is a controversial look, and a lot of folks have poison eyes toward it. I don't like the look with super heavy opaque black tights because I think it looks too seasonally confused. I like the look with colored tights or a sheerer black, and not with white or beige sandals. I could see this look with fall or spring skirts and dresses, meaning mid-weight fabrics and mid-range colors.

I actually like it but it's not possible in my climate - there is no seasonal confusion here. It's either winter or not.

I'm not a fan, to be honest, but believe it works on people who have an OTT personality to pull off the look.

Oddly enough, I'm fine with look when it's black tights and outrageous, "look-at-me" shoes. The version with colored tights and peep toes is a somewhat more problematic. I can see the retro look, but the pairing is too much like what I see in the senior centre for me not to cringe just a bit...

Yes, that's in the Quirky Waif repertoire. Not very popular, I must say. It *is* seasonally confused. You have to be down with funk, I suspect.

I think it can be nice if done well and deliberately. To me the look is rather retro so I'd stick with that theme through the outfit. I also think it looks much better with chunkier, funkier shoes (think fluevogs) rather than delicate, high stiletto type shoes.

I also really dislike when this look is done with sheer hose. The visible toes under sheer hose looks like webbed feet to me! (It's ok with peep toes though since usually you can't see enough of the toes to matter.)

I personally don't wear tights with open toes because well, I always prefer bare legs when given the choice, and if it's warm enough for strappy shoes it's warm enough to not need tights.

I am not a fan (for myself). It looks seasonally confused to me. For a dressy evening event it might be ok, but not for daytime.
