Katie, I really like you in the vintage Levi's. Both they and the other pair look slightly boyfriend to me -- in a good way. I think our eyes are just going to have to adjust (or in my case as an 80s survivor, readjust) to the look of high waists. We're just not going to get the type of rear view that we're used to seeing with lower rises, which IMO are more flattering. But maybe modern tailoring has the answer!
The belt in pic 4 seems to help the look.

So I also bought these vintage levis. I fell in love immediately, not just how they look but how they feel. this pair of jeans feels extremely soft, worn in, and light as a feather. It was the extreme opposite of that "stuffed" in skinny jeans feeling and I also think they add a very fun look to my wardrobe. NOW I'm worried about how horrid my backside looks in them! I never really thought about how goofy they made my butt look! (Also took bad butt Jean pics haha)

Thank you for the replies. I slept on it and this morning decided I wanted to try one size smaller. A lady in their customer service department recommended sticking with my normal size. She said they would give a little and look relaxed after wear. If I don't like the smaller size, I can always exchange it for the size I originally had. I love the jeans so either way I'm keeping one! Hoping this one will be tighter around the butt but will still have a relaxed fit. I would love to share pics in this thread to compare the two sizes.

Those look like they fit you well to me. If you'e going for the classic 90s jean (think Monica and Rachel on Friends), then you've found the perfect pair. It's true that non-skintight high-waisted jeans look a bit 'mom-jean' from the back, but I don't think there's any way around that. Plus, I thought mom jeans were coming back in style..?

The size looks right to me, in fact, better sized on you than the model. Even in a smaller size they're not going to be snug in the thighs and they'll probably ride up in the back if they're tighter in the hip.
I think with shorter, wider tops you could balance the volume in the thighs and I like the way you rolled them up to show some ankle.

I have to agree with trekkiegirl on this one. I don't love the back view. The pocket placement looks too high. Pockets should end closer to the bottom of the bum.
Front view looks great.

Going to be a downer here, I really dislike the back view. The front is really cool, but the back just looks way too mom-jean to me. Maybe with a hi-low shirt they would work... just my opinion.

Jealous of all your amazing ink though

If you can't wait to wear them out ----- perhaps that's the answer right there! To me, the fit in the thigh should be easy. There's always a belt for a closer fit, and taking in the waist would be easy.

I love the way they look on you. It looks like the thigh is meant to be looser, like a classic 90s jean.

Whenever I go for a smaller of two sizes in jeans, I tend not to wear them as much. Especially if they are a bit tight in the waist. I have zero tolerance in that department due to my IBS (sorry if that's TMI).

You can always have a tailor make something smaller. It is much harder to fix a too tight waist band.

Thanks for the reply! It says it is 98% cotton and the denim feels heavy so I do not think they will stretch too much. Right now the hardest part is not wearing these out in public, I want to make sure I'm keeping them before wearing them out. So far I'm 90% sure I am keeping them.

In the photos at least, these look like a wonderful fit on you. I would keep these unless you think they will stretch out too much. Are they stretchy? More than 2% stretch? Maybe wearing them around the house with the tags on for a couple of hours, then looking at the fit, will help you to decide.

I recently purchased a pair of high waisted straight leg jeans. I have nothing but skinny jeans in my closet, so I decided to add a new addition. The site I purchased these from noted that this wash runs small, so I decided to go up one size. Since these are my first pair of high wasted pants, I am not familiar with the fit and did not want to risk having back bulge. I don't mind the relaxed fit in the waste but of course I was hoping for a slightly slimmer look in the upper thigh area. Should I switch these out for one size smaller or have them altered? The size I currently own is now out of stock so I did not want to risk returning it just in case I didn't like the smaller size..I DO like these, I'm just wondering if one size smaller would look better. I am also worried one size smaller would be too tight in the waste. Since I am used to skinny jeans I could use some help deciding. Shopping online for jeans can be difficult. Thoughts appreciated!
