My double CC's look like they are one piece of leather, but are sewed on in a quilted way so that the right C overlaps the left C, similar to your bag. Here’s what I read (tip to others: better to do the research BEFORE buying):</p> <p>*bag should have a serial number inside the bag and on a certificate of authenticity. My bag matches the description of how this should be done.</p> <p>*Bag should have tight, small, straight stitching. 6 stitches to an inch suggests fake. Real Chanel has more, up to 10 stitches to an inch. Mine has 8 stitches to an inch. Stitching is straight.</p> <p>*The serial number for my bag is genuine but it is on a list of serial numbers commonly used by counterfeiters.</p> <p>*Zip should have Chanel logo deeply engraved. Mine has this.</p> <p>*The CCs should be overlapping. The right C must overlap the left back facing C. My CC logo has been sewn on as one piece. I think an authentic Chanel would more likely have them as 2 separate pieces sewn on - so that the right C overlaps the left? My CCs look more intertwined than overlapping. And possibly a little crooked - not parallel with the base of the bag.</p> <p>Makes me think it’s a counterfeit :(</p> <p>Anyhow, I could be wrong. I’ll chalk this up to experience. There was no way for me to check before buying because my friend got it for me. I don’t plan to tell her because she bought one too (different style) and she’s very happy with it. I like the new bag too and don't have any advice on how to spot a real vs fake item - generally the cost gives things away. I have been to the markets in Malaysia and the quality of the fake items is surprising. Of course as soon as you glance at anything, you get pounced on, so I ran away and did not buy anything, it was just too overwhelming. </p>
