Woohoo! So, thanks for the endorsement, ladies. The package arrived already and the electric blue cami is VERY close to the blue shade in my BR wrap dress, and the red shade is a near exact match to the red in the Tahari wrap dress that I can't get enough of. Yay! And the super soft fabric beats the pants off of my cotton camis. I'm excited to wear them, and I'm sure I'll buy more colors down the line.

Oh wow, this is exactly what I've been looking for! Black and white are good starts, but if you don't wear white often maybe black and blue!

I really need one or two or thirteen of these! I'm buying two for myself, and one each for my sister and my mother.

Okay, I just clicked the "buy" button. I'm excited to finally try them! (FYI, there's a promo if you buy them and enter code "facebook." As a new customer I wasn't entitled to use the "Friends With Benefits" code yet.)

Kari, buy the Second Base camis. Buy them right now. They are a total godsend in the summer and are not phased whatsoever by...curves. :p You and I can wear similar silhouettes (wraps, v-necks, sweethearts etc), and having these onhand will help you wear those styles with so much more confidence in warmer weather. And like Rita, I can't say enough about the sleakness and smootheness of the fit. Seriously, you'll forget you have them on eventually.
If I were you, my first purchases would be black, white and teal.

An excellent endorsement. Thanks, Modgrl! They are definitely more pricey than the $5-7 lace-trimmed camis I used to get from Old Navy, but you're absolutely right that (especially under a wrap dress) the full length camis wiggle and slither around like crazy.

I'll start with a small group of Second Bases and if it works out, will add more later on as necessary. Thanks so much for your advice!

I have the "sarah" second base cami's. They are vastly superior to other layering options and totally worth the money. You just can't get the same streamlined look with a full length cami. My normal cami's move and bunch throughout the day. These just stay perfectly in place. They are pretty pricey. I started with a black and white but found that I was wearing them all the time and decided to get back ups the next time they ran a promotion. I mostly wear them in the spring and summer. My summer tops and dresses are just cut lower and I don't want to flash people. I often wear them under airy tops when I am out with the kids, so I know if I bend over no one is going to get a view of my bra or a full cleavage shot. It is a very good product. I wouldn't try to find a cheaper knock off. It's just not worth it. I have a stack of them that I bought before I discovered second base. They never get worn.

Good thoughts. Perhaps I should just start out with black and white for now, and think a little bit more about what colors to add. Modgrl, do you have a Second Base cami specifically? If so, which style do you like? (I know our body shapes/sizes are quite different, but I'd still love to hear your recommendations if you've tried them yourself.)

I have two black and two white. For me, that covers what I need to use them for, and there are never any wardrobe bottlenecks. I also have a nude one but it never gets worn. I regret buying that one.

I've finally decided to take the plunge after thinking about Second Base camisoles for years after this blog post of Tara's, realizing that many of my colorful camis are looking pretty worn, and that I'm sick of the lower hem slithering up my hips/midsection and causing bulges or wrinkles throughout the day.

So help me out, folks. What should I start with?
The pieces I need to layer under most frequently where a demi-cami would be appropriate are:
Blue patterned BR wrap dress: I usually wear black, emerald green, kelly green, or teal.
Coral and white Tahari wrap dress: Red or white
Blue, green, and black patterned surplice dress: Various shades of blue and green, usually kelly green or sky blue
Nine West fan print dress: Black or red
Evan Picone black faux-wrap dress: Usually black, occasionally a color or print.
Black dotted surplice dress: If I wear a cami under it, generally it's black.

My thoughts are that I should begin my Second Base capsule with 3 camis to replace the colors I wear most often that are wearing out: black, red, and blue.
For black, I'm leaning towards the Tricia or Lesley.

For colors, I think that Brittany will be most in line with what I like. Scarlet's a no-brainer for red, and though I really wish there was a vibrant kelly or emerald green in the mix, I'm thinking that electric blue or aqua would do the trick for the blue spectrum. Very Berry or Violet would be awfully fun to add later. And I do have a full size kelly green cami (the one I'm wearing here) that's still in great shape.

What would you pick if you were me?
