I am shortwaisted and my belts do need to be adjusted every time I stand up. Typically my shirt rides up more than my belt though. I have two narrow belts that stay in place the best. They work best over cardis and other fitted pieces.

My wider belts do not stay put at all and need to be adjusted pretty much over every item. I think that is because there is less space on my waist for them. This happens with both the elastic belt and a regular leather belt.

I usually try and pull my belts down a little below my natural waist. They balance out my body better that way and also are more comfortable, with less riding up.

Hmm, I am very long waisted, and my belts do move around a bit. I usually have to readjust them a couple of times a day. So I would say it is a common thing. But mine fall down, opposite from you .

I have to admit that even though I am making peace with belts, they are still not 100% comfortable for me. I'm wondering if it's something I'm doing wrong or if it is just not meant to be. I just can't seem to get them to stay at my waist. They always creep up on me and end up around my ribcage, which is very uncomfortable. I suspect if I had a longer waist, that wouldn't happen. If you are not short-waisted, do your belts ever come around your ribcage?

It bothers me for three reasons: 1) It's painful to constantly have the belt rubbing against my boney ribs, 2) the belt is sitting up too high and not around where I am smallest, so I look bigger and even more short waisted than I really am, and 3) as the belt rides up, it rumples up my shirt or dress.

Is it a size thing, and if so, is it because the belt is too big or too small? I am guessing small because a belt that was too big would slide DOWN, not ride up. My H&M and UO belts both do this, while the one Angie gave me with the flower does not. I wonder if it might have to do with stretchy belts vs. non-stretchy belts. It's something that happens over time, so trying a size bigger on in a store won't really answer the question. I'd have to try it out for at least a few hours.
