I think it is fine to buy multiples. It all depends on how high or low one's repeat tolerance is for an outfit, or an item. For myself, I will purchase two of the same items and many items in my wardrobe are repeats (black and white t-shirts, brown and black tall boots, light and dark wash jeans). I personally stop after two though, just because I've noticed with more than 2, I get bored too fast.

The guys I know have one or two brands of shirts and tons of colours and patterns of the same kind of shirt and the same kind of pants. And in the winter, it is the same shirts and pants with nice cable knit sweaters or casual sports jackets.

If it works for you, I'd keep it

I'm trying to break that habit as well, however if I find something that works I will buy multiples in different colors. I actually have a drawer where I store extras of the stuff I truly love in case they stop making it.

"Innovation is not appreciated in men's fashion" - I can't remember who said that, but it's true. Your wardrobe is the epitome of the well-dressed man. Don't let anybody sucker you into variety! You will lose points, no matter what they say.

And I say this as a hipster.

For a man-- I would say not. However, If I am not mistaken, some of the ladies at work know a bit about your interests in fashion (women's fashion) if not for any other reason but because you often notice little details about their outfits and make compliments. A woman that was interested enough in fashion to do that would most likely be a woman that plays with her own wardrobe, so the ladies at work might expect you to be more into your wardrobe. Also, women in general have a tendency to love to play dress up with male friends ect, or at least think about how they would dress someone differently, especially if the guy wears a lot of very plain very casual clothes and that doesn't necessarily mesh 100% with his personality. I know for one that I've commented to a guy friend that I liked it when he wore something different than his usual, or said that I liked him in button downs or in a certain color.

My SO has like 8 pairs of the same pants, and 4 pairs of the same boots in different colors. He is hard to fit and those are his favorites . . . so no, not unusual for your average guy.

My wardrobe is almost full of the same style/brand of tee-shirts and lightweight trousers, as I am stuck in a routine of buying and wearing what I know is comfortable to me.

I do vary the colours though.

A few women at work have commented on how I never wear different styles of clothes.

Is it considered boring to do this or is it unusual?
