In the last couple of years I have transitioned from a full time working workrobe to a full time Mum wardrobe. If I were heading into an Aussie winter I'd try for a mid-thigh trench or jacket in a suitable weight (cotton for Cairns, wool for Melbourne), a pair of nice boots that I could tuck skinnies into or wear under bootcuts, and some scarves in a flattering colour (whatever that is for you) in a fabric to suit the climate. And if budget allowed, I'd get a new 'winter' handbag and update my cardies.
