Thanks Kasmira! Those are some great pieces. I guess a statement piece can be just about anything. Come to think of it, my knee high boots are sort of a statement piece, and they have lasted many seasons. My teal fleece scarf is also a statement piece. It's bright and cheery with my black winter coat, and I've gotten several complements on it.

I love bold, interesting pieces. In fact, my problem is probably that I have too many! Some of my favorites:

My red Bebe retro-style coat. I got it at 1/2 off. It always gets compliments and it makes me feel absolutely glamorous.
http://farm1.static.flickr.com.....a7322b.jpg

I have way too many statementy blazers/jackets. I went bananas for swing jackets this year. This black and navy, mutton-sleeved one is probably the most unusual. In fact, it's so memorable that I feel like I can't wear it too often.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com.....7f795c.jpg

My faux-Missoni wrap dress and my moth medallion necklace also garner a lot of attention. Funny thing, the necklace cost about 7 times more than the dress.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com.....cf137f.jpg

And everyone loves this bag. I love the gold and black tapestry, the studs, and the unusual shape/handle. It goes with and dresses up almost anything.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com.....4fa3b4.jpg

Lastly, my green, platformed, peep-toe pumps. Some people call them clown shoes, I call them FUN!
http://farm3.static.flickr.com.....dde4b1.jpg

I love Angie’s concept of the statement piece (http://youlookfab.com/2006/12/.....ent-piece/), but it’s something I hadn’t heard of until this December when I subscribed to YLF and started digging into the archives. Could anybody give me specific examples of statement pieces you have bought and loved? Picture would be great, but they aren’t necessary. Also, are their statement pieces that can last more than one season and even become a part of your personal style? I think the closest thing I’ve ever head to a statement piece was a collection of light scarves and shawls that I used to wear all the time. They fit my artsy look nicely, and I need to start wearing them again. And finally, what are some good examples of statement pieces for this season? I’d really like silver heels and/or red patent heels. I’m not sure if I can afford both though. Would either of these make good, stylish statement pieces?
