I'll try but I'm not sure if my trench will button! It fits well but the most I have ever worn with it is a fine gauge sweater over a buttondown.

Maybe my Free People just has a different dress code, but no one was wearing jeans the day I went, so I don't know if it's a great idea to wear them to an interview. Everyone seemed to be in dresses and skirts, and unfortunately those are my two weak spots. There were only three people though. Who knows.

More specifically, as I said, everyone looked very romantic/feminine. According to their website, florals are the big thing at their store. I saw a lot of lace as well, and legwarmers/leggings. Free People is edgy but also girly. I'm really behind in current trends and that is exactly what I feel I need to be wearing.

It's also too cold for either biker jacket. I need to wear my trench at this point, which I'll need to wear regardless of whether it is appropriate. It is outerwear, which is going to come off as soon as I enter the store, so I don't really see it as being a problem.

I'm here, Maya! I’m glad you’re going to this interview too.

I see Free People as a little more edgy than Anthro. I’d haul out your black knit biker jacket, add a scarf, tuck jeans into to boots and throw in a dressier bag. Or, your red biker jacket ensemble with skirt and boots. I was actually at the store with a client yesterday and that’s the vibe I got from the people working in the store. How say you?

That skirt is the only floral piece I own. Ruffly and feminine: I have two shirts with very subtle and understated ruffles (any other kind won't work over my chest). One of them doesn't look as nice as it used to so I'm thinking of giving it away. I guess I'm not a very feminine person. I don't own a lot of dresses or skirts either.

Angie? Where are you?!

Try putting an outfit together with the skirt and post pics. Do you have a dress or tunic that could work over your zipper leggings and studded flats? Something floral or ruffly or feminine? Even a plain skirt with a feminine blouse would probably work.

The UO interview was so lame that it wasn't even worth posting about, but it was easy to dress for. Edgy urban is a no brainer for me. I ended up having so many ideas that filtering them down to just one was the hardest part. I ended up wearing a purple dress with a red moto jacket, leggings, Betsey Johnson necklace, and silver flats. I looked like a ballerina who happens to ride a motorcycle, which is a look I plan to replicate!

I do not have a boyfriend blazer. I only have one blazer period, and it is white and short sleeved. I keep saying I need to work on this, but it has been SO hard to find something suitable. I went to H&M and tried on probably 7 options, all of which looked too severe and some of which just looked appallingly cheap.

I can do the skirt with tights and slouchy boots, but I still fear the skirt may look out of place.

Rocker look...I have zipper leggings and studded flats and that is about it in that direction.

Didn't you interview at Urban Outfitters? What did you wear for that one? I wouldn't wear jeans for an interview, it just seems too casual. That floral skirt with tights and scrunchy boots would be cute.
I just looked at their website, and they are showing boyfriend blazers- do you have one of those? They also are showing a Rocker look- maybe going more of that way would be better for you?

They are still pretty boho to me Laura. When I went for the second Anthro interview, I was chatting with the manager about the other two sister stores, and she described Free People as "girly boho" which I would agree with. But obviously they can't just be boho every season, so they also keep up with current trends.

Ooh, Free People. Don't you think they are a bit less boho these days? Wish I could loan you my knit military jacket!!

When I went there yesterday to pick up an application, I noticed the girl at the register had a very romantic/girly ensemble on. Light creamy colors, a lacy crochet cardigan over a dress. Romantic and girly isn't really my style though. I have one lace jacket thing that I bought years ago but hardly ever wear because it doesn't work with my current style. It's too short for jeans so it is definitely a skirt-only look. I'm afraid my plaid shirt is going to be too grungy and masculine. They have plaid but it is done in a very feminine way.

I noticed they seem to be pushing the legwarmer look, and I do have some legwarmers. I didn't know if it might be too casual though.

Florals seem to be pretty big too, looking at their website. I have this skirt from Anthropologie (which is FP's sister store), but it is very summery. I would have to make it more wintery somehow.

http://img.photobucket.com/alb.....G_1676.jpg

I guess I feel like I have some of the right components but they don't really work together to make a Free People look. This one is tough!

Just had a look at their website, nearly all of the looks feature denim; I like the idea of your plaid shirt and pearls from your previous thread with jeans or a denim skirt.

Do the sales assistants wear denim?

I'm going to another open interview at Free People next week. My question is the same as always: what to wear. Their style is very girly boho. Not so much my style. They are also super casual, even more than Anthropologie.
