I started to carry a Tide to Go pen when I became a mom to a 9 year old boy because, ya know, boys are messy and dirty. I definitely need it more than him and shouldn't have waited so long to start carrying one

Ele, thanks for the recommendation - I might check to see if I can find it next time I travel to Vancouver.

Joy, I have a *very* slight astigmatism, but it's too small to be corrected. Clumsiness/lack of coordination seem to run in the family anyway. At least from reading the other comments to this thread, I'm in good company and not the only person who occasionally wears her food!

Just an idea. I was very clumsy as a child until a doctor suggested that I have astigmatism. My eyesight was fine so I hadn't been checked by an eyedoctor. I'm still a disaster if I don't have my glasses on. If you haven't been checked specifically for astigmatism you may find that's it's a factor. Just seeing things even a little off from where they actually are is problematic.

Kari, I hear you. I am a HUGE klutz, almost embarrassingly so. For me, it's not just spilling things... it's tripping, breaking things, cutting myself when I'm chopping, burning myself when I'm cooking, the list goes on.

I've used the same stain removal product my whole life (introduced to me by my Mum), and can't recommend it highly enough. The only thing is, you'll need to know somebody in Canada to get it for you! It's a laundry bar called Ban-It, sold at Home Hardware, Canadian Tire and a couple of other places in Ontario. I'm not sure if it can be found anywhere else (maybe Ebay, Amazon?). It comes in solid soap bar form, is very portable, and works great.

Lena, the stain removal guide that my mom swears by recommends mopping oil/food stains with cold water, soaking in 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water mixture, pre-laundering with detergent, and possibly also pre-treating laundry with an enzyme cleaner to get rid of food stains.

I pretty much swear by Kids & Pets for food/oil stains. A while ago I even managed to get oil splatter spots out of a silk/5% spandex top by soaking the garment in water before treating with enzyme cleaner.

I'll give the "Tide to Go" a try. Thanks!

Kari, I'm fairly successful with Tide To Go. Unfortunately it doesn't work on oil stains, and that's the kind I tend to get most often (cooking, spilling).

Haha, I am so glad that I'm not the only one! I wear an apron in the kitchen too (actually, a very cute fitted one) and like Hannah mentioned, I wish that it was socially acceptable to wear it at meal times since that's where most of my spills occur.

Sounds like Tide to Go is the best bet so far for "on the go" products. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the advice!

Kari,

Another major klutz here! When I am cooking I am wearing an apron. Since walking around with a bib around my neck is not yet socially acceptable, I am carrying Tide to Go with me at all times, and it really helps. Although, when I am wearing a white item of clothing (like today), I am usually seriously considering skipping lunch

I'm curious, too (*another clutz here!). My biggest problem is that whatever I am cooking tends to explode on me, so I have started wearing an apron in the kitchen.

LOL Kari, I hear you girl! My husband does the exact same thing. I do not know what it is but he consistently does it! Sorry, I don't have any "on-the-go" products to share. I use a homemade soap from my MIL's friend in WI that takes practically everything out right before I throw it in the wash. I should see about getting the recipe or something if she'd be willing to share. I will see her in a few weeks so will try to remember to ask. DH's sure to spill something while we're there to remind me!

Okay, I hate to admit this, but I spill stuff on myself (mostly food) on a weekly basis. No, I am not a mom on the go, and I don't have a messy job, and I'm not careless. I'm just really clumsy and prone to knocking things over (throwing an entire can of V-8 all over my pants a few weeks ago) or spilling.

Really, I should go through the day with a bib on, but I have a feeling Angie wouldn't approve. So instead, I'd like to query the forum about your favorite stain-proof products.

The best one I have come across is Kids 'N' Pets enzyme cleaner. I've found that it does a better job with tough stains (blood, grease, etc.) than Oxyclean, even if you don't launder right away and is gentle on clothes. http://kidsnpetsbrand.com/
However, Kids 'N' Pets is not portable (it comes great big bottle), so I'd like to find a good product I can carry with me.

I've tried Shout pads, but found that they leave a ring on white clothes. I don't want anything that will leave a ring or will bleach colored clothes.
I remember that Angie carries Tide To Go - are you still liking the product? Are there any other portable products that I should try?
