Angie, getting a sad message from Dillard's. They say the Bryn Walker dress is not available for purchase online in plus sizes. :/ Which is weird, because I swear I looked at it last night with no issues.

Based on their size chart, I might fit into a regular XL, depending on hips. I will have to see how I can source the plus another way... Thanks for the intro to another line. I like some of their dresses a lot! Her cocoon maxi dress is really fab!

Lisa, oh thank you! It started last summer. I actually had quite a lot planned for this last autumn/winter. Our weather was so warm that all my plans fell by the wayside. Oddly, we're getting an actual spring here. Could still get some heavy honking mountain snow before June, but it's not looking like it. The big horn sheep are appearing in our yard again. Their arrival is a good 4-6 weeks early. All of the bulb flowers are either blooming or sending up green leaves. It's kind of nuts lol!

I've been going through some weight shifts myself, so I know a little bit what you're going through. It's so hard to know what to squeak by with and what to commit to! Do you think your weight will shift anymore? Sometimes if you can anticipate it, it helps with wardrobe replacing/weeding. But not always easy to know ahead of time either.

Your perspective on opportunity and downsizing shorts is a great one! For myself, with weight shifts, I'm downsizing some. I mean, laid out in this post my summer wardrobe seems monstrous to me lol!! When I count them though--plus a couple items I forgot to mention--it's only approx 30 items *including shoes/sandals*. That's really not a lot. I even have decided I'm not buying replacements in smaller sizes yet. I'm going to just go with what I have. if something really, really grabs my attention and becomes a staple, I might grab it in another size. But otherwise, I'm not going to. Not sure if that helps you but I share in the journey with you!!

I'll try to keep an eye out for your shorts decisions as you post! :D

Angie, oh how lovely of you to share all of that! Thank you <3 Your reassurance encourages me! And yes! I LOVE orchid!! (It's a higher energy color for me, but I do love it.) Thank you for sharing this with me. I'm taking a look at it now :D

Carla, I can't wait to see what you wear for S/S 26 You are such a smart dresser, I'm sure it will be amazing. Thanks for the no pressure reminder. I feel a little pressure--all self-induced of course ha! But the pressure never leads to fun, so going to focus on the fun of it and see where things land.

Suz, oh thank you! I was worried I was overthinking. Your encouragement is well received. As for planning: I don't know where this is all coming from haha! In the past I've never planned my wardrobe at all. The last 2-3 seasons, I have been. Very excited to hear about your city travels! Hope you'll share your mood inspo for it soon. You have such a fun sense of style that I'm excited to see which direction you go--both in wardrobe and travels :D

Pirouette, that's so lovely of you to say <3 Thank you <3 Fashion has always been artistic outlet for me, but I think this year it's been more so. Not sure why. Some significant season shifts maybe.

Sal, oh thank you! <3 And I'm excited to join you in relaxed holiday looks You wear them so beautifully, and I'm always inspired by your style!

I adore how you put so much thought into the upcoming season. Very inspiring. Your direction for this year sounds lovely. I especially like the swing tanks (commented already on that post) and the metallic sandals. I have found metallic footwear is so wonderfully versatile and easy to pair into outfits.

For myself, I'm in a bit of a crisis mode for the upcoming summer season. I always wear my shorts a little large, but with recent weight loss they are now too large and I'm trying to figure out what shorts I can maybe squeak by with this year versus having to replace them all! We have a long hot weather season and shorts are a core piece of my summer style, I need shorts that fit!

On the flip side, I see this as an opportunity to reset the total number of shorts in my wardrobe. Maybe I don't need as many as I currently own? That'll reduce decision fatigue and make rebuilding my shorts capsule easier to do if I'm not trying to directly replace all of them. I have some thinking and planning to do.

What Angie said! I don't think you are overplanning! You are imagining. And envisioning the mood you want to create with and in your clothes. It's fun. Similar to what Brooklyn does.

As for the specific ideas, they seem very organic to your style -- they extend from what worked for you last summer and eliminate some of the elements you didn't care for or tired of. You have kept your winner pieces and are looking for ways to evolve your style. Sounds like perfection to me!

I never do this much planning but I'm always inspired by those who do! And I might just try to imagine a mood for this coming summer, which will be a little different from my usual summers since I will be travelling in a different way -- less cottage at the beach or hike in the woods and more city.

My thoughts after reading the feedback and sitting with everything

This much planning is usually not me. Historically, I do best with merging heart+smart, feeling things out, mood dressing, even intuitive impulse buys. So, not planning much.

1) I am probably overthinking it all and could well be disappointed and
2) I am also going very slowly with this all. A lot of what I ordered (but didn’t share here) I’m returning.

The flipside is, I have felt my style wanting to evolve. A bit more rocker. A bit more sculpted. Idk why. I think I’m partially bored with boho after wearing it for a solid 15 years with little variance. And then, I think aging into my 40s has something to do with it. (Can’t say exactly what or why, just a feeling.)

What last summer REALLY taught me is it’s easy for me to plan, do elaborate overthinking and lots of buying only to like/love 2-3 things out of the whole lot. So that’s why I’m moving slowly.

Also, I am not sure if the moniker helps me or not. I’m kind of wondering if I need to ditch some planning and go back to my heart and trusting myself. Which doesn’t mean planning. :)

Thanks for letting me process it all here, my darling Fab friends. xo

Robin don’t admire too much? I’m already feeling like I’ve way over engineered and over thought this all haha!! Thank you, I will share once the sweater is done. I’m really loving the yarn a lot—and I rarely say that for a cotton based yarn. It’s splitty but I’m using wooden needles and so far, it’s not been too bad.

Lise I forgot you’re in Bulgaria! I also didn’t realize you shared some words with your Greek neighbor. So that’s fun to learn Thank you for your lovely feedback. I’m already wondering if I’ve overthought this all to death and it’s going to be a big flop like last summer’s very planned wardrobe was. :O But I do like some of the elements here a lot. I’m enjoying a few pieces that are more sculpted or simple.

Sisi thank you! I am not 100% settled on the colors actually. It’s just what I’ve found while shopping. I need some reds/rusts and oranges to feel complete and feel more Mediterranean. I don’t do well in colors that are intentionally bright or clear. (They wash me out.) I’m still working on it. And yes! I need to find the right fabric for dress 18! I do really love it. It says KÉFI!

While this all looks like a lot of clothes and change, it’s more me feeling it out. I’m also better at being spontaneous but then I start overhtinijg and planning the heck out of something. I’ll probably end up sitting with it all and only keeping a couple of swing tanks, trying the duster with leggings, and knitting the drapey sweater to wear with a tank dress. And then finding or sewing a kimono so I still have something familiar and beloved to anchor me. PS You should see the 4-5 bags of clothes I have to return haha! Not looking forward to the return counter trip.

Indigo I had no idea!! That so cool! To clarify, my husband is not an architect. He’s an IT analyst. Sort of similar? The architect bit was an idea suggested to me, based on me using the styling and wardrobe from Charles Bronson’s Death Wish character. (His wardrobe in the first few scenes is fabulous imo.) I like what it evokes. I’m really into the 70s and 80s right now, particularly where the two meet. We’ll see how that actually pans out in my wardrobe. I’m always wondering if it conflicts with kéfi or is too limiting.

Carol I actually want more rusts, oranges, and cool, deep greens. How my entire wardrobe ended up looking like olive, navy, black is just how all the photos fell together here—not intentionally planned that way. I have bombed 3-4 times in a row getting an item or fabric in the right cool DA pine green. (Item was either sold out or a totally different green IRL) But I’ve got a rust red dress on order which will infuse some color into it. I will say I’m actually enjoying how calm and sedate the current color palette is—surprisingly. But will have to see if that lasts or I miss more color. Bolder colors—I look so washed out in them, so probably not. But I am hoping to add more oomph!

Many pretty things and a soft style shift, with still some boho in it. I agree with Carol about adding some more "mediterranean" colors and reducing the dusty, earthy ones. I like a lot the dress in # 18. Can't wait to see your final Mediterranean capsule! I am not planning my Summer wardrobe yet but I had better start looking for some breezy dresses - I always find myself short of them at the last minute.

Very cool. Like CAROL I still see a little bit of the Boho element so not miles away, but with a different vibe overall. Which is perfect because you can include some of your older pieces. So kind of a more natural evolution which bodes well for it to work for you imo. No big shocks IYKWIM :). I like what I see. It can work for you for sure. Oh and 'kef' means fun in Bulgarian кеф. Greece is a southern neighbour.

Well it’s a gorgeous word and theme.
I suppose I can’t relate because I never start a season with such a detailed theme. I only use my “sassy” word because I feel overall my wardrobe is satisfying me, and then I mostly just see something that could replace another item. Like literally the black summer pants I donated were from 2010 so over 15 years old, once I found the black sassy bow pants with the silver bow. Otherwise I probably shop more on colour and what grabs me- I know I like a certain type of red, cobalt, orange, certain greens etc.
I suppose I just worry slightly that your expectations are too high and that you could be disappointed? But now I am worried that I will upset you with that thought because all of this is gorgeous and you’re so excited?!

It's really lovely, but it does resemble your current style a bit. I especially like the drapey dresses. "Architect's wife in the Mediterranean" is a strong statement, but I like it. Have you considered making certain elements bolder? Like more whites, blues and blacks, and less of the plums and earthy colors? Perhaps oranges, reds, or even a strong, summery pastel? I like your dark/denim blues, true browns, blacks and whites. And the accessories are everything!!!

Jaime, thank you! I am not Greek. I do have a "Greek" nose, but I'm very Northern European as far as I know.  I dearly love Mediterranean cultures and food though. Does that count? :}

I don't remember how I found kéfi. I think it popped up randomly on Pinterest. I know it was sometime last autumn. When I saw the word and definition on my screen it spoke so deeply to me. Kéfi is how I lived prior to all the suffering and health stuff the last 5-10 years. So I'm slowly embracing it again, finding it and creating it again in my life and myself.

Hopefully my vision plays out well. I'm a little nervous since it's a different feel than the more romantic boho I've worn for so long. I look forward to your thoughts as I wear and style it all. xo

So, my summer inspiration this year is shifting. Last year I did more with retro and well... I didn't end up loving it overall as much as I had hoped, despite all my planning and shopping. A few items are staying with me, but others will be either put in a holding box, resold, or donated.

This year, I didn't plan in with a theme in mind at all. I simply pinned what felt good. Will this be a dud like last summer? I'm not sure yet.

My mood goal is: κέφι (kéfi), a Greek word that is hard to literally translate but sort of means: "a feeling of overwhelming joy, high spirits, passion, and enthusiasm. It goes beyond temporary happiness, often describing a contagious, lively, and resilient spirit that persists even during difficult times. It signifies a zest for life, often expressed through dancing, music, and socializing."

(To any Greek Fabbers, forgive me if I botched kéfi!)

My visual theme is Architect's Wife on Mediterranean Holiday.
It's got some Mediterranean feel, a bit of sculptured drama and drape, and some refined boho. It's not as retro, on the nose, as last year.

Returning items:

Navy boho dress

Navy Tencil crinkled dress

Olive waist-tie shirt

Leigh jeans (Eloquii)

Floral ruffled cami

Cage wedge sandals

Black bubble top

Adding:
Swing tanks (photos 1-6) in a rayon jersey knit fabric in several colors. Something very new for me. The number of colors probably seems excessive but I like variety. My hope and plan is to make these into an easy summer uniform by pairing them with my Leigh straight leg jeans and sandals.

Smaller Leigh jeans (same as pair in Finds below). My current pairs are getting quite baggy and don't fit or look the same. I ordered a size smaller. Have to see how they fit. Not sure if they'll be good or skin--and-soul-sucking tight. (Never know what to expect.)

Swimsuits for All Cover-up (photos 7-11). I'm experimenting with styling this as a duster, with black leggings and tank top underneath it, a la inspo photos. I found it online and was intrigued. Tried it on and found that no, I couldn't tack the hip-high slits shut; it would look weird and risk tearing the fabric. BUT... I could possibly wear it as duster. Will let you know how it goes. The fabric is a delicious sheer Tencel charcoal-navy color.

Petrol blue v-neck sweater (photos 12-14). Knitting this in a cotton-rayon yarn, in a petrol blue (photo 14). Photo 12 is inspo, photo 13 is the pattern I'm using sans all of the textured body stitches. Planning to throw this on over the swing tanks and any column/tank dresses I wear.

Off-shoulder top (photos 15-16). Possibly-hopefully-maybe sewing this for myself. Have to see ha! :)

Oatmeal/Cream V-neck sweater top (photo 17). Thrifted this online earlier this winter. Absolutely love it! I wore it on our trip 2-3 weeks ago, with my Leigh jeans and sandals. It's a cotton-rayon-something blend. Very comfortable to wear, and I enjoy the shape a lot. I sized down one size, as XL was a blanket tent on me. I don't get as much exposed shoulder with L, but the shape feels more flattering.

Ruffle-shoulder dress (photo 18). Another maybe-possibly-hopefully sewing project. I have the pattern, but need to find fabric and try it.

Tank dress (photo 19). Just trying this style out. I have a sewing pattern to make one. I'm trying an inexpensive version from Target first--to see what I think of it. If I love it, I'll sew one.

Metallic gold sandal (photo 20). These are a maybe but I am seriously considering them to kind of knock around in. I like the tortie buckle paired with the metallic gold leather.

Accessories (photo 21-22) will likely pull heavy duty for the boho element. I have lots of beautiful boho gold earrings of all kinds, and a gorgeous coin collar necklace my MIL gifted me for Christmas. plus a couple of long chain fringe pendants, and my usual stack of bangle bracelets. Trialing a new pair of sunglasses (26) in a very lovely early 1980s style.

Items to maybe add:

kimono dress. kimono topper (?). another pair of pants.

Photos 22- 40 are part of my summer inspiration board. For inspiration and direction.

Anyone else planning their summer wardrobe yet?
