Thank you, Andrea. That grey is one of my favorite colors to wear.
Jenn, be sure to do a show and tell on those EF pieces. They look ideal to go into hot fall days. The skirt with shell sound like a great combo. They are similar to an EF thrifted skirt and shell I own in a linen blend. Mine is a bit more red. I will see if I have a find.

Jenn, I don't think so, but again, I am a very casual dresser compared to most people in this forum. I have a couple of pairs of several-year old pants in that fabric that are pleated at the waist and taper to skinny ankles (sorta harem-lite) and I wear them with a dressy tank and nice sandals as going out to dinner type outfits when it's hot.

Joy, I think so and I'm in the menopause-run-hot portion of my life, lol. The fabric is extremely lightweight and drapey.

Andrea, I like that pale grey. Do those really feel cool and breath in summer? They are polyester, so I am skeptical.

LisaP, I've been adding one or two EF pieces a season for the last few years (some via Nordstrom rack or fairly decent sales, and others at full price), and am now up to a whopping SIX in my wardrobe. I am wary of going full-on Eileen Fisher and ending up with that "docent lady" look, as Suz calls it, but I think a lot of that can be salvaged with the right shoes and jewelry (and some structured toppers). They are all such well-made, well-thought-out pieces that I find myself reaching for them constantly. I have been working up to ordering from Elizabeth Susann. I wasn't comfortable with their store-credit-only return policy when I was at the top of their size range, but they've expanded significantly in the last few months and I now feel more like if the first thing I order doesn't fit properly, I'll at least have a good shot of finding something that will. It is truly slow fashion, though...a significant investment and long wait time.

Joy, I got the same $50 coupon and just spent it on the rust skirt and shell. I may not keep both. We shall see when they arrive!

Andrea, I actually wish listed those exact crops! I love the shape, but my worry was that the fabric might seem too "gear-ish." Would you describe it that way? I might drop by our local Athleta and see if they have them in stock.

Jenn, these may be too casual or boring in color for what you want, but I got these https://athleta.gap.com/browse.....=281969042 recently and they are so cute on with the snaps on the hem undone. That "featherweight stretch" fabric is super cool for summer too.

Jenn, I vote try wide crops and add a new color for summer. It is hard to plan with snow ( we had 4-5 inches yesterday). I am in the same place that you are. I have enough but it looks boring. The most exciting are my wide crops...white twill and khaki twill from Gap and black from EF. None are exceptionally wide and I need to study Angie’s blog post for footwear ideas, but am leaning toward fashion sneakers if the right ones come along.
The EF color and style are tempting. I have a $50.00 coupon from EF. The new color looks like it should blend well with past EF colors.

Nice picks - I LOVE that rusty colour for you. EF has the best clothes, and I need to figure out a way (eBay I guess) to get more of them in my closet. No ideas on wide leg crops - our Cdn market is so useless lately. The only brands I'm aware of are Jesse Kamm and Elisabeth Suzanne. (or reverse the s and z ? )

Those would definitely be worth a shot, but alas, they only go up to a US 12 or 14 (14 is sold out right now).

You know, I don’t love the elastic waist, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me. I’d probably cover it in summer anyway.

Hi Jenn. These came up in an ASOS "hotlist" feed I got this morning. They are the colour you want and 100% cotton. Elastic waist, which may bother you. It doesn't bother me for summer but I would cover it up. They may be a bit wider/more flared than you want.

Nice picks!! I can see these on you. I really enjoyed my green dress this summer - both the colour and style. I wore it to day and evening events including Christmas Day lunch, a work do, a school event, and a few BBQ with friends. I could see something similar working for you.

Definitely loose cropped pants - there are lots around now and so comfortable and fun!!

LP, I quite like those Lands End ones, but they're all currently sold out in my size. I'll keep an eye on Gap. Nothing there is quite catching my fancy yet, but I tend to forget about them since the one in the mall near me closed a couple of years ago.

Suz, I would have NEVER thought of Mango on my own, so thank you! Both those particular ones are sold out in the US, but it looks like a site to watch. I do have two pairs of Eileen Fisher crops on my radar...the linen ones below, and a poplin pair on the EF site, but I'm kind of hoping to spend a little less on these. I still might come back to them if there's a good sale or one of my other pricier pieces doesn't work out (or if I have a really good mother's day show!)

LP, I saw those Caslon ones and they’re sitting in my Shopping cart now. Might throw in the Madewell as well, since there’s no risk to trying, but I think I’m more than one size off. I do have the Boden Richmond pants, but the sizing is honestly not great for me. I should probably get the waist altered on them.

Hah, I just tried on pairs of mint green *and* lilac (or lavender?) sneakers! I totally understand disliking pastels -- I wouldn't want either colour as a top or dress -- but somehow I love them in unexpected contexts like footwear. I also love the idea of pastel suiting in menswear inspired silhouettes, but would have no practical use for such a thing. :)

I get the sense that that rust colour is sort of trending -- at least among a certain subset of designers (Eileen Fisher, Elizabeth Suzann -- it's like the "slow fashion" colour of the season). I'm really looking forward to wearing my rust-coloured wide legs again once it warms up a bit (they are from Madewell last year -- I did have to size down so maybe it's worth a shot even if you're sized out?). I think rust/terra-cotta is my summer burgundy -- I feel very odd wearing burgundy/wine in hot weather.

I feel like I've seen A LOT of wide leg crops out there this season. Caslon has these: https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/c.....&cm_m

And Boden has these -- you have Richmond pants, right? (I'm kind of in love with the Rose colour): http://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/.....e-crop-chi

Style Fan, this looks like a you-color!

JAileen, I honestly don’t know if it will work or not, but we shall see!

Angie, I have to confess, I don’t like lilac at all (except, I suppose, on actual lilacs, of which I have several). It’s down with mint green among my least-favorite colors.

Sounds good, Jenn.

How about some lilac to wear with all the olive. Fab with cognac too.

I love that new colour EF is showing. I might have to pick up that linen skirt. It is perfect for me. :) Wide legged crops are definitely having a moment. I am a big fan.

I'm finally getting down to some summer planning (while waiting for more snow!), but I think my wardrobe is in pretty good shape. Photo 1 shows my warm weather capsule as it stands. I'm pretty covered for essentials, and even have many of Angie's predicted trends represented.

What I'm most worried about is just getting/being bored. To that end, I'd like to add:

1. A fun color. Eileen Fisher has added the earthy russet shown in the Finds below, and a few other brands that work for me have some similar tones. I like this color a lot and think it would mix well with my wardrobe, but I won't know for sure until I try them.

2. Another floral piece. I've added a lot of florals to my transitional capsule, but besides the Anthropologie kimono in the photo, I don't really have any for high summer. Nothing I've seen so far has really inspired me, so I'll keep looking. Do y'all think we'll see some more sleeveless florals as the season progresses?

3. Wide-leg crops. If I'm being honest, I'm pretty bored of boyfriend jeans as a summer staple. Dresses and skirts are going to be important for me this year, but I'd really like to add a pair of wide-leg crops. I LOVE the look and colors of the two Madewell pairs in the Finds, but I'm sized out. Does anyone have any suggestions of where else to look?

I'm sure more will come up as the season progresses. I have a few essentials that will need replacing, and I have room for another statement or two, depending on what works and doesn't from above. It's nice to have my wardrobe in a state that I don't NEED a huge refresh, but I'm also already a little bored with what I have and think a few key pieces will go a long way towards spicing things up.
