I was so annoyed and wanted to return them, but my husband convinced me that it will go away. I tried finding the source, removing insole, I put leather lotion on it and it did help a little but not completely. But once I wore them outside, I could not hear anything, so I thought that my husband was right. And then I wore them to work one day and immediately when I entered the building I heard the noise again - it was so embarrassing. I will not wear them to work again and they are anyway too casual for the office. I now wear them only for walking outside and they are completely fine for that, no sound at all. It’s a shame because you’ve said you really like them other than the strange sound. But $250 boots should definitely be worn! I have a couple that cost around that amount that are not worn a great deal due to heel height and it makes me feel bad. Since 2018 I have avoided that issue by buying better and flatter boots. It definitely has me wondering. CS was quick to send out a replacement pair--but there were no instructions on how to repair the original pair. I've emailed customer service on how to return the replacement pair--I'd actually prefer to return both. It's too much hassle trying to figure out what's wrong and I'm loathe to wear them because the sound they make is so annoying and noticeable (to me and those around me.) It's the shaft that makes the noise--not the insole. I've tightened and loosened the laces with no auditory improvement.&nbsp; So disappointing. I had a pair of sandals once that squeaked, and I remember following some advice I found to try using a little lotion — just regular body lotion — on them, but I can’t remember where I applied it exactly. </p> <p>I think sometimes it’s caused by an air bubble inside the structure — perhaps between elements of the sole? Have you tried taking out the insole? I'll preface this by saying that I love the boot--comfort wise they are everything I expected based on Brooklyn and Diana's reviews. They're gorgeous but man, are they loud. I thought they would loosen up with wear but we're going on several weeks now and they are still so squeaky that I had to take a break from them. (Co-workers have commented that they can hear me coming!) Loosening the laces didn't help so I reached out to customer service asking if there was anything they recommended--I thought about using a leather conditioner but after closer inspection, I wondered whether they were leather. The description on the website says there is leather on the upper but the inside of the black black style says faux fur lining so I'm not even sure they are leather. Anyway, CS said they would start the process for a replacement pair. I haven't had a more recent update but will report back.&nbsp;<br />@Brooklyn: Thanks for chiming in. I've never had a boot issue like this--at this price point, I wouldn't expect it.&nbsp; </p>
