Ate at Nobu and saw Carlos Santana. Both were amazingly good. Stayed at the Bellagio, which was also really nice. The forum shops are nice, as is Fashion Show, which is directly across from Bellagio. There is a good outlet mall, too, which has an Anne Fontaine shop. I went there a few years back, very expensive cover charge (~$40). DJ sucked big time. My bf and I go several times a year for the food and the shopping.<br /> On the shopping--you shouldn't miss checking out the Forum Shops and the newly developed (and as yet unfinished, but open for business) City Center. There's something about Vegas that emboldens me to walk in to high end/couture stores with a confidence I don't normally have in other cities. I think it's the idea that anyone (no matter what they are wearing or NOT wearing, for that matter) could have tons of money to blow and the sales people act accordingly. I've looked at engagement rings at Harry Winston, tried on dresses at Gucci, fawned over velvet blazers at Tom Ford, etc and never experienced ANY attitude whatsoever. It just makes for fun, no pressure shopping/window shopping with an added element of escapism. Plus, it will be HOT so the malls are a good place to cool off and always have some sort of eye candy.</p> <p>For food, on our recent trip, we ate dinner at Nobu and Mastro's (I yelped about both) and had INCREDIBLE experiences that didn't necessarily break the bank in the way that Picasso did. That's the other thing I like about Vegas--there's so many restaurants and yet all of them are good. You'd be hard pressed to find an average dining experience at any place, in my opinion.</p> <p>Finally, I love trotting out more adventurous attire in Vegas. People wear anything and often nothing! Although you'll see a wide range, I love dressing up in a really fun "night out" outfit that might be a bit much/too risque--totally works in Vegas! Any of the shows are fantastic - I'd recommend O, Ka, or Love (the Beatles one, my favorite actually). Also, if you have time during the day take a trip to Red Rocks in the desert (not the casino, the actual rocks). It is gorgeous and this time of year the weather will be PERFECT. I have done rock climbing trips there and never get tired of the scenery. Go see the Bellagio hotel/casino, the Italian glass ceiling sculpture in the lobby is unbelievable. I'm also a huge fan of sitting and playing blackjack for hours. :)</p> <p>Oh, yeah, and shopping. Fashion Mall is HUGE, at the end of the strip. But to be honest, climbing, blackjack, buffets and shows come first when I'm there!</p> <p>Okay, more: the lion exhibit at MGM... they get shampooed and blow-dried! All the casinos have some kind of free attraction. The Venetian has a fake riviera/gondola ride, the Bellagio also has the famous outdoor musical fountain show (like in Oceans Eleven), etc. You can eat lunch at the Eiffel Tower restaurant up top - pricey but cool view. Out of nowhere it looks likes the stars aligned and both my bf and I will have this weekend off. Its going to be one of our last days together before he leaves for South America in a few weeks. I pictured it being spent at art galleries and soaking in the sunshine at the park... until he suggested Vegas We're thinking of spending Fri-Sun there, and I would love some recommendations on where to stay, things to see, etc. I tried to Yelp stuff, but it got overwhelming really fast. I'm sure we'll check out a club or two one of those nights, but I'd like to see the artsy side of Vegas during the day...sculptures, art installations, shows, etc. Any tips on places that shouldn't be missed....and ones to avoid at all costs? </p> <p>I searched through the forum archives, but didn't see anything on this topic. If I missed something, please point me to it. I will be sure to post potential outfits once I get home and start scrambling to put things together. </p>
