It looks like you have the pieces in place to form a wonderful variety of attractive, coordinated outfits this spring. I really like your cardigans and the green jacket. I, too, have worn cardigans much more than jackets, especially when I was your age. This winter, for the first time, I wore jackets more frequently. It's a different feel, for sure.

Adorkable - I know! I think I don't wear as much of it because I'm very picky about the shade of red. I'm less picky with blues and greens. And thanks for the links, If I find the right skirt, I don't mind having to hem it to get it just right.

Carter - Thanks you! Congrats to your daughter! A good chunk of my wardrobe has come from swapping, liketwice.com, thredup.com and tradesy.com. I also wait for sales and compare prices between B&M stores and online. I should also thank Janet and *lyn. :)

Thanks Lisa! I have a yellow top in my casual clothes. Yellow can be a bit tricky for me, but if I could find the right gold top, I'd be all over it.

Thanks Caro. The cropped jackets work pretty well with most of my dresses.

It all looks very cohesive both in styles & colours. Love the dresses - do your jackets work with them?

Gorgeous color palette here, I especially like that green blazer. A yellow show would be very fun with these colors.

Wow, K. This is great! My daughter graduates next month. Assuming she finds a j.o.b, this is exactly what she will need. Favoriting for future reference! Good luck with the new job!

These greens looks great on you, from what I've seen in your pictures - awesome. Although I'm surprised to hear that red's your favorite color based on these pictures!

I am with you on the grad-student-to-desk-job transition. In general, I always think you look great, and I think these clothes do a nice job of being work-appropriate without being soul-suckingly boring (and goodness knows there is a lot of soul-sucking business casual out there).

Thinking about lightweight grey skirts (also a hole in my closet)...what about something like this? http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....=934278002
or this: http://www.express.com/clothin.....65/cat2011
or this: http://www.express.com/clothin.....99/cat2011

The latter two are probably too long - I know I can't wear past about 21" and I think we're a similar height - but are they the kind of thing you had in mind?

Last weekend I started putting the fall/winter clothes away and bringing out the spring/summer things. This will be a little long, so please bear with me as I try to put all of the pieces together. I tried to focus more on a work capsule, but I had a hard time with that, so I'm doing the all of my work clothes, minus shoes or accessories. I'm still working on that part. :)

This is my first spring/summer in a real job. As a grad student, I was dressed up if I wore a button down top over my jeans. Now that I've moved to an administrative job, I've been working on shirting to a more business to business casual look. Most of my skirts are still going to be used over the spring and summer, but will be sans hose (once we get into the 90s with high humidity, I may melt if I wear hose everyday like I have been.) I realized most of my button downs weren't worn near as much as I have expected. I think it's because they didn't like to stay tucked in like my knit tops. I didn't see that being an issue when I bought them. I'd like to add a lightweight gray skirt, but I have had the hardest time finding one.

Next up is pants. This was a category that completely surprised me. For the past 10+ years, I've almost always worn pants. I loved dresses and skirts, but I didn't wear a lot of them because of practicality. It's hard to get into a soil pit or harvest fruit in a skirt. Once I started working after leaving school, I was amazed at how I suddenly made a bee line for my skirts and dresses. So, a lot of my pants are now in my sell pile. And I'm ok with that. The 2 pairs of Old Navy Pixies I bought recently are going to be my pants for the spring/summer. I can see the red one going into the fall as well because my school colors are red and black. My town has a slight college football obsession.

Jackets. I really don't even know what to say about this one. This winter I never seemed to gravitate to them. I almost always grabbed a cardigan. This spring/summer, I'm going to try and wear my jackets more. I think I make may this into a challenge for myself. I can roll the sleeves up on the long sleeved Cythia Steffe to make it a little less formal and I think the Kenar and Loft ones will work for my more fitted dresses. I have a denim jacket that isn't pictured here. I'm going to wait and see how my new office dresses and then decide if it can be a work jacket or should stay in the casual group.

Cardigans, oh how I love thee. Maybe I gravitate to them because they're less structured than a jacket. I think i may be close to done with the long sleeved black and purple ones I've been wearing most of the fall/winter. These are short sleeved, which should be fine for spring/summer because we are so hot. I'm not sure how the AC will be in my area, but I always keep a wrap around just in case. I've worn the purple and emerald J.Crews before and the Loft one on the end is just fun IMO. I'll probably also wear these with my casual stuff.

Tops. This is one the areas I've always had more of. I guess because it's easier to dress my top half and I've usually tried to hide or minimize my generous hip and bum area. Some of my tops are hold overs from winter (like the 2 green Banana Republic tops in pic 6). Now that I'm really looking at them, I'm not sure the linen black and white striped top in pic 8 should be a work top. The black one in pic 6 has a fun texture that I love. Now that I'm looking at it, I'm amazed that almost all of the they're all black, green, blue or white. I thought I had more colorful tops, but those must be in the casual part.

And now to the part that makes me happiest. The last 2 pics are dresses. I wore the blue one in the last pic several times this winter with black tights, black long sleeve shirt underneath and my black cardigan. I'm excited to see what I can come up with as the temperature rises. Most of these dresses are fit and flare and A-line (I think). I hope I don't get tired of this silhouette, or I'll be up a creek without a paddle. I think I should start looking for other silhouettes to replace these as they wear out over the next few years (hopefully).

Looking at it, I think it's mostly complete. Unless I found something awesome, I think I'm pretty happy and well set. I was afraid I wouldn't have anything that was work appropriate, but I'm glad to see that I do. I know my style persona was Casual Gamine Classic, but I think I'm going more towards Classic Gamine. And it looks like most of it can be mixed and matched, which makes me very happy. I'm amazed I don't have more red in my work clothes since that's my favorite color. And I'm surprised at the amount of green I have.

If you're still reading this, thank you. I sometimes struggle trying to express what I think through writing. Not only has this been a great exercise in trying to learn and understand my style, but also in writing. I'd love to hear any thoughts and comments on my wardrobe, style choices or pretty much anything. Thanks!
