Ack! You might like Levi’s 724 better than the 721. They are more ‘straight’ than ‘skinny’ but form fitting/stretchy. (I did some try ons and jeans purchases today! )

My experience with ‘Mother’ jeans, is that they do very nice things for the rear view if you have a petite (or flat) derrière.

Jonesy and Shevia: you are definitely both boot-buddies!

Bijou: I have heard good things about Mother jeans, esp the Lover, but have never tried them. Definitely worth exploring on your recommendation!

Helena and Angie: thanks for being my #1 cheerleaders!

Notasf - it is love to see your well considered monthly purchases and also the Top Performers. You have assembled a very well considered wardrobe.

My favourite jeans are Mother The Looker and The Hustler jeans. I have 3 pairs of The Looker and one of The Hustler. I know that Mother jeans are expensive - but my jeans get worn often and The Looker jeans (a high waisted skinny jean) were purchased 3 years ago and still going strong. I even wore my The Looker jeans on a plane and slept in them, they are soft and comfortable. I have other jeans (Paige, JBrand, AG) but my most worn and comfy are the Mother jeans.

Beautiful new additions! I love the oxblood boots--I have a similar pair and I've found that color to be surprisingly versatile. It's so great when you finally spring for something like that Emerson Fry striped sweater, and it immediately just works and becomes a favorite!

Thank you all for the kind words! It's good to be "back."

Liesbeth: what a kind thing to say! I had been eye those D’orsay flats for years, and jumped when the went on sale at the holidays. They’re totally your style, as well!

Jenn and La Ped: the sweater is a real superhero; I’ve already duplicated in cream (sans stripe) and am wearing both all the time this spring. (If you're thinking about purchasing, I found it to be truly oversized, so a small was the right fit for me, where I might have taken a medium or large to get the same look in another brand. I'm a US 6.)

Sal: fingers crossed the booties work out!

Carla: I do think I'll go back to finish my work in the UK if and when that's possible and I miss London terribly, but at least I picked up a few wonderful pieces and some style sense (including the boilersuit!) from my friends over there. I think my personal style really did get refined over the year. Moving multiple times also helped keep me concentrated while winnowing the chaff.

Has it been that long? I did miss your posts, I realized when you commented on my spring haul ;). Very interesting to see which purchases you made in this very special year. I'm awed, they're all very you and strike that balance between casual enough for Covid life yet interesting enough not to look like you've given up ;).
Just one more thing: those ochre slip ons you got in November are too die for.

I enjoy your posts and sharing of Finds. You have a refined style that is appealing to the eye and must be soothingly comfortable to wear. Has returning stateside changed the way you look at clothes? Would you go back if/when things open up again?

I’m not familiar with the fit of J.Crew jeans, so not sure of this recommendation - but, I’ve become a fan of Levi’s 721. (I’ve got 2 pair of the white - they are less stretchy than blue versions, but the fabric composition of Levi’s blue versions looks similar to the JCrew formula.)

Somehow, it has been quite a long time since I've posted (it's been a very unusual winter, to say the least!), and I am long overdue for posting about recent purchases.

I keep track of everything in Finds. Here are collections of purchases since the last time I posted (apparently in JULY!):

August: https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....ction=8946
September: https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....ction=8983
October: https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....ction=9154
November: https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....ction=9344
December: https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....ction=9343
January: https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....ction=9566
February: https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....ction=9594
March: https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....ction=9702

March isn't over an I have two new pieces on the way, both inspired by YLFers: Angie's white booties and Irina's cropped white jeans (in Finds below).

This is almost a year of dressing - wow! - and almost two years since I started posting on YLF: what a great influence you all have been on helping me to clarifying my spending and my style.

I continue focusing on functional, foundational basics in a restricted palette. I have zero patience for things that are fussy or uncomfortable, and value lovely, washable fabrics that are soft and appealing. I have become a uniform mood dresser: jeans and a top almost all days, but with enough variety in those items and silhouette to be able to pull together something different each morning that feels perfectly, genuinely me. I add interest with footwear, dainty jewelry, and outwear.

By the numbers, October and December were the months when I made the most purchases, but throughout these items, I include gear and loungewear, as well as basics, where I made greater investment this year because of more time at home and outdoors: that has been a welcome change and a silver lining.

Top purchases have to be (...also in Finds):
- Lulu Lemon beanie (such a great color and fabulous material that could work in the city and on the trails: I wore it ALL winter)
- Uggs slippers (wearing them as I write this, and a totally luxurious addition to my WFH situtaion)
- Oxblood Blundstones (which I purchased with the help of YLFers like La Ped, and which have been totally indispensable in the late winter/early spring sleet, slow, ice, rain, sun)
- Emerson Fry cotton sweater (something I coveted for a long time and about which I am so glad I took the plunge: I barely take it off at the moment)

Unfortunately, the latest fabrication/sizing of my favorite, many-years repeat-purchased J Crew skinnies (also in Finds) is a little off this time: the length is just a little shorter and the waist is just a little bigger, meaning that they are just fussy enough for me to be looking for something else. End of an era! If any of you have suggestions for a fairly dark-wash, high-waisted, slightly-stretchy skinny ankle jean that is not too skinny at the ankle (a lot of needs, I realize!), please let me know!

And if you've gotten this far: thanks for reading!
