Jayne, I'm like you in that I seem to really enjoy seasonal capsules (and then capsules within capsules). There is some, but really very little carry over from my summer to winter wardrobe. It must be our northern climate, and the way the light changes. It's partly the temperature differences, but also what one feels is needed in the different light. But also, I really couldn't wear what I wear in -20 and what I wear in +30 with humidity -- they must be different clothes.

I do stick to (broadly) the same colour palettes, though -- with variations. More reds and berries in winter. More whites and creams in summer.

Your wardrobe sounds the perfect size for you. That is a great accomplishment!!

Thanks Hil

Molly- thanks for the boost. I am a very seasonal type. I don't reuse much from summer into fall. Mainly the leather moto will get reused. And the leopard dresses since that is really part of my fall palette, that includes golds and blacks. Do you reuse your wardrobe year round?

ramya, hi again! I can post some shots of the toppers. As you see, white slacks, white skirts, silver slacks, and navy chinos are my main bottoms and almost all toppers will go with these. I will make a collage from some pics and make you another post. I haven't been as good at taking photos this year but i know that it helps ALOT when trying to check how an outfit looks on me!

I loved your yellow blazer and I am sad to see it go :(...
But our tastes change with time. So yes right decision!!!

Jayne I would love a picture of your current wardrobe :)'
I am trying to still make a cohesive one but I do see myself collect toppers... Most of my tops are still from India with a few addition I do here during sales, but I see myself buying jackets, cardigans and blazers here. They now make my outfit

Wow, Jane, that's a really comprehensive review! Good job! It's great that you were able to refine your colour palette and figure out which colours work best for you, as well as a couple that definitely don't. How do you think you will carry this knowledge forward into your autumn/winter wardrobe?

way back in April I posted my planned spring wardrobe (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ng-musings )

now that I am midway through summer, I can take a look at how I did compared to how I planned:

I started with:
2 white slacks (cargo and chino)
2 navy slacks (chino and a slouchy type)
5 blazers: 2 white, 1 navy and 1 yellow, 1 red
1 black leather moto
3 spring dresses; a zebra stripe and 2 leopard (one shirt one sheath)
lots of colorful blouses/shirts
3 summer dresses/skirts: 2 blue, 1 skirt, 1 B&W

colors: white, navy as base
lemon, white, reds, and greens as accents

I added:
1. silver slouchy trainer slacks
2. white a line skirt (linen. had on my list awhile now, just added at sales times)
3. from my party selection I decided to try to use m silver silk dress for work...considered an add
4. 1 navy pinstripe silk blouse (just added a week ago, also added on sale)

I removed:
yellow blazer (too cropped and youthful for my taste now)
B&W linen dress (fits poorly)
navy slouchy trousers (too shiny and I don't feel great in them)

outfits needed predicted: 25 (thinking to reuse 4 times each)
unique outfits actually created/used so far: 52 (less outfits re-used, but same item re-use)

So I found that I was able to make more variations on outfits with the same pieces (plus borrowing from fall/winter blazers) than I expected. Great!
I have a very high use rate on the clothes that remain in my closet, like an average of 4 wears per item (some are very high though)

I did a small experiment with lime and azure by buying a cheap lime tank/azure cardi and trying to use them as well. I disliked them both so much that they are both already purged. I feel good that I chose to experiment with cheap items that didn't effect my average CPW and that I tried something I was curious about. The result is a complete aversion to both colors now. With saves me longing for more.

I have also searched long and hard for a white skirt to replace one i used last year. I could not find anything in a length I needed (to the knee). So I bought two mini skirts and sewed them together in a layer effect. The look was pretty and kinda cool but the down side was that I bought the top one too big so it kept falling to my hips instead of staying at my waist. In the end it was too difficult to alter so I dumped it and lucked out when the summer sales came and a white A line appeared in the store. It is perfect fit but I haven't worn it to work yet. I feel pretty good that I found a temporary solution while waiting for my skirt to appear. But maybe if I had searched harder I would have found that one to begin with and saved myself the time I used on the double mini option. THe cost would have been the same either way.

Conclusion, the size of my wardrobe is truly perfect. I do NOT need more clothes but I do desire to upgrade a few items for next summer.

I feel I might be getting the hang of this! thanks for reading

Jayne
