Great report on the shoes. Very helpful. I also have very fussy feet. Love Flys but like others I am between sizes so I have never been able to own a pair. I do love Birks.

Dakotacheryl, I end up wearing my Birkenstocks like slippers in the summer. I have an old pair of Floridas that I plan to demote to house wear only.

Firecracker, I should check out Kork-Ease. I have never tried that brand before. I'm not surprised that you think our feet may be similar. I have noticed that many of the shoes you purchase are the same brands I like to purchase. I have attributed it to your good taste in shoes, but it seems that people with similar types of feet favor the same brands of shoes.

Love them all, but especially the oxfords....I have a pair of brown boots from that brand and they are so comfy.

I really don't understand why it's so hard to find cute flats with ARCH support...sigh

If my feet hurt at the end of my work day, I slip on my Birkenstocks, and my feet immediately stop hurting...magic

These are wonderful choices, Staysfit. I especially like the laceless oxfords and the Fly Londons, because selfishly, I could see myself wearing them! But the Anyi Lus are gorgeous and will be just right with your dressier clothes as you described.
I think we may have similar feet. These look and sound like they would work for me, too. I haven't yet tried Fly London, but I did find with some Kork-Ease sandals I tried on that the higher heeled ones were more supportive than the lower heeled ones.

Staysfit - we are foot twins. I have ridiculously high volume feet also. Birks and Fly london are my Fall back summer shoe.
I adore those laceless oxfords - I also can\'t do laceless sneakers my feet rebel- great alternative.
Two brands new to me that I was introduce to through the anniversary sale that work well are
Donald Pilnar and aquatalia - Both also work great for my feet.

Suz, I'm the same way with flats, and the same heel heights that work for you seem best for me also. If you notice, any shoe that I call a flat, actually has a heel, although usually a very small one. The Picolino's above have a heel like that. I may have some flat flats but they are expensive brands and have built in arch support. If the footbed of a shoe has no arch contour I know it will never work for my foot.

The flat Fly's were very pretty, and came in some great spring colors. I really loved a blue pair that is stuck in my brain. Anyone who can fit into them should definitely look. The problem I had was the leather strap that arched over my metatarsals/arches was too large and there was no way to adjust it. I have skinny/bony feet even though they are high volume. I think they would be great for someone who has more padding on their feet.

I like all your choices and am particularly jealous of those Flys. I can't wear that brand because I seem to be "between sizes" in it; I have that trouble a lot with British shoes like Flys and Docs. (I seem to fit best in a Euro size).

I definitely find that a slightly higher wedge or heel gives me better support. I can't wear complete flats for any length of time. I do best in a shoe with a 3/4 inch to two inch heel or wedge. Higher than 2.5 and it feels too high (as a rule, unless very very well made); lower than 3/4 of an inch and it is just plain excruciating for me to wear for more than a few hours, especially if walking or standing. Not to mention the fact that flats rarely stay on me anyway so I get cramps in my toes from trying in vain to grip.

I stopped at my favorite shoe store on the way home from work yesterday because they finally have some of their Spring inventory. I was hoping for some pointy toe ballerina flats, but none fit well. My feet are particularly sensitive recently because I have been running again, and thin soles are not supportive enough. This is what I purchased instead.

1. Picolino's laceless Oxfords- I really love these. They are very comfortable and they are made of butter soft leather. These are my alternative for lace-less sneakers because I have never found a pair that fit.

2. Fly London - deep red ankle strap sandals. Comfy and IMO interesting. I also tried the lower heeled Fly's but they were much less supportive of my arches. Interesting. Has anyone else found that to be the case?

3. Anyi Lu - light navy Mary Janes. I had a hard time getting a pic of these. They look black in the photo, but IRL they are a beautiful blue, somewhere between dark royal and light navy. These are obviously on the dressier end, and I plan to wear them with my blue and white floral dress, and my new white popover Tibi dress with the dark charcoal print skirt.

4. Birkenstock Gizeh's - I admit that I have purchased a third pair. I now own a pair of black, light pink and matte waterproof white. (They feel good on my fussy runners feet right now. I feel like I'm going back to my 20's )

I also rejected the Blondo's below and am going to keep the Via Spiga's. I loved the look of the Blondo's. They even felt good initially when I had them on my foot. The problem came when I was walking around my house for a while. For whatever reason, my feet were unhappy. The Via Spigas were more supportive, plus I love that they are perforated leather so they will be cooler in the warm weather, if it ever arrives!
