You are sweet. :-)</p> <p>Viva, I think that it just really struck me how violent this painting is, and how being in black and white makes it not only somber, but more palatable to the general public. The sadness and heaviness comes accross without being so vivid that one cannot bear to look at it. So what jumped off the image most to me was the absense of color - particulalry red, which would most capture the horror of the imagery. Sometimes it is what is unsaid that speaks with the most volume, so my best interpretation would be simply... Red. Unfortunately, I don't have that in my wardrobe, so I went literal. Shades of black, white and grey, with high contrast, complicated jewelry and dark eye makeup. The gradients go from light to dark, starting with my hair and ending with my shoes, but rather than doing it on purpose, it just worked out that way due to what I had to work with. A happy accident, as it were... </p>
