Care to post a pic of you wearing the current coat, so we can evaluate? Is it possible that dad has made an error :)? (not to prevent you from buying a new coat, just thought the old one might be fab on you too!)

Aw, AG-dad! Surely you didn't mean it the way it came out?!

I like the Nau trenches, AG, they're sustainable, have good design, and are waterproof.

FYI there's a black trench in the Archive section, too, though you probably like the beige better for spring.

Yeah I really like the Airforce one too. Too bad I can't afford a trench and a parka.

ETA The Seattle store has the Truman in my size.

We are talking trenches - not parkas, right?

PLEASE get a traditional tench coat right now!!!! I would love to see it complement the rest of your wardrobe.

I've returned to trench love this year.

If you like juxtaposition, then a traditional-ish trench over your less conservative outfits might be a fun sort of juxtaposition!

The AS ones are lovely. I might prefer the Truman over the Utility because I really find the just-above-the-knee length good, but hard to know without trying on.

ETA: some say double breasted is harder to wear. I know wearing it open leaves a lot more fabric flapping around your front. You might want to look for single breasted too.

Currently I have a beltless double breasted cotton olive military style trench. My father said it made me look fat. So I might need a new coat. I love parkas, and juxaposition of a casual parka over more formal elements. But I'm wondering if I should go for a more traditional trench.
Examples from All Saints.
Top row is parkas. Middle of second row are trenches
