Jeneva, these are beautiful on you.

I've always loved your soft, romantic, yet funky style. These items and outfits epitomize that.

Just wear the top and jeans in #5 -- it's gorgeous. No wonder you have a (FAB) photo bomber there...

I understand about the mental energy issue. It's tricky. Kids deplete us, work depletes us, having to deal with comments depletes us. But at the same time, dressing in gym gear and PJs also depletes us! So I guess it is a question of which depletes us more.

I understand about the dog, though. I have cat problems. Claws get into so much. Ugh.

But on the plus side, your dog is GORGEOUS and he goes with your outfits (even if he ruins them...)

These are beautifully done. Honestly I love each of them. I have always liked the romantic style of dressing, but I agree with you it takes a certain amount of energy. And to be honest it’s not the most practical. But I do hope you get a chance to take these outfits to the street at some point because they are gorgeous.
It occurs to me that the boots from number four might go quite well with the voluminous skirt you made….

My fav is number 5, very wearable, and the blouse accentuates all the right things. You have a great shape. And the dog is not too shabby, either!

Such pretty and flowy combos, I think Ginger’s idea of the belt swap might work as well.
I too, can identify with that lack of mental energy in wearing some outfits out in public.

#1 is lovely with all that texture! Though I feel it's at odds with the boots. Maybe tie in the boots by swapping out the boots for a tougher, darker belt? Make the juxtaposition purposeful.

Those floofy skirt outfits look like just the thing for cherry blossom time in a couple months!

I can relate to the mental energy thing and have let some clothes go because of it.

#1 for the win. Make plans to go to the ballet matinee or a lunch date and museum visit - and make fantasy reality! You look like spring.

We’ve been experiencing a long period of temps hovering at or just above freezing (so nice!) but our coldest (February) and snowiest (March) months are still ahead of us. It truly won’t be spring until the Magnolias bloom - the first week of May.

It's sunny out here in the Pacific Northwest, but looks like we are about to embark on a few weeks of dreariness. I have been low in energy for all sorts of reasons, and working mostly at home, which has made me demotivated when getting dressed; yesterday I went from PJs to workout gear, back to PJs.

Today, I was trying to decide if I should do the same. But then a skirt I've never worn caught my eye and I decided to see if I could make it wearable. What ensued was a try on session of items I've never worn out of the house.
1-3: a pink brocade skirt I made myself: It's soooo flouncy and a bit over the top; I had to find a way to make it a little more funky so I tried it with an oversized sheer cream blouse, wrapped and secured with a pink belt with a clear acrylic pink buckle. One untucked, two tucked (one without the belt). I tried to wear this out of sheer laziness but the moment I sat down my dog immediately tried to put his paws in my lap and I knew it would be the end of this skirt, so I moved on.
4: cream satin skirt (oh, that static!) - I tried to make this a little bit more frumpy and more wearable by adding a slightly-too-long brocade tee in navy, and a pair of closely fitting, low-heeled burgundy booties. If the skirt didn't capture soooo much static I might actually consider wearing this to work on an in-office day. But it's not practical for being at home with my giant standard poodle who sometimes likes to try to be a lap dog.
5: precious white Rebecca Taylor jacket/blouse. I love this thing so much that I've never even tried to wear it. Two issues: I struggle with what to wear under it, and I struggle with it being so pretty and delicate that I am afraid of ruining it. It reminds me of Regency era, with the high waist and tucks. I tried it with this very old cotton pink tank top tucked in to a pair of medium blue high-waist straight leg jeans.

I ran out of energy to change on this last try and stayed wearing this. It kept me from eating the chocolate cream pie and cheetos that I wanted to eat, so I guess it's good for my health, too!

I like all of these outfits, but I'm not sure if I'll wear them out. It interesting; I find more often than not that I lack the mental energy to wear in public the things that I actually enjoy because they subvert the norm. In my earlier years I found that exhilarating and enticing. But now I find it annoying and off-putting.
