I just recently put away the winter clothes in vacuum bags. I know that this is definitely not the best method, but I really don't have much space. Try to avoid this if you can.

For organization, I use an excel sheet. I did not update my excel sheet before after the clean-out, before this it looked like this: 9 categories: sweater, long sleeve tops, short sleeve tops, button down shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, blazers scarves. You can change the categories according to your needs. Under each category, the items that fit in that category are listed. Each item occupies one row and is identified with distinguishing characteristic: brand, color or pattern, and for sweaters whether they are chunky, medium weight or lightweight. I would put an X next to the items as I wore them. Multiple wears get multiple Xs. I do this so that I can keep wearing the items that I haven't yet worn.

Hope this helps!

I'm not sure, but I think it's a spreadsheet in Excel that Shiny has mentioned a few times. I'm sure she'll chime in soon;-)

I keep sweaters in a closed box. It sits on the shelf in my closet (we have an organizer with a middle section of shelves) so it's in easy reach, but still protected. I just rotate seasonal items that don't get worn from the front to the back of the closet each season.

I have been reading Kristen's thread about small closet organization and would love to get there myself. I have a few questions,
What is the spread sheet that some of you use, is it in an office program?
Any help or examples on this would be great.
Do you put seasonal clothes away, I am trying not to but what about wool and moths?
I seem to spend way too much time on what I call the "change over ". I do it twice a year and it takes a long, tedious amount of time. It sends me into panic mode and is overwhelming for both me and my husband. I would love more simple strategies. This site has helped so much with learning about things are are just not working anymore. I hope to get to that very enviable small closet space.
