Like Catherine, I can only wear sandals in a size NARROW or double NN. I go down half a size too. Try her suggestion!

Haha, Catherine! I say if it works, duplicate to your heart’s content!

I had Tevas quite like those years ago but something made them uncomfortable after a while — it’s been a long time so I don’t remember the exact issue. I may need to order a bunch of options and do some in-depth at-home try-ons. Sport sandals are one of those things that often feel fine at first but show their flaws only after a long day.

I wear a 9.5N shoe. My feet are pretty narrow and seem to be getting more narrow by the year. I could recommend Teva Universal sandals, which fit me perfectly in a 9. In fact, I have them in black, white, tan, and silver. Is that too many?

OMG, Joy!! Yikes!!

I suspect the Eccos will be too wide and not easy on-easy off enough.

I have heard that some styles of Mephistos are less wide than the Birks, but I don't have direct experience.

I wonder if Naturalizer would have a narrow fitting sport sandal?

Interesting, Phoebe! I think I tried a Naot sandal once and the fit wasn’t right, but I may be misremembering. I would prefer something I can wear to wade in shallow water, cross a stream, get caught in a rainstorm, etc.

True sports sandals that are 100% synthetic are too hot for me so no recommendations but for non waterproof options, you might try the Naot Santa Barbara, a much better fit for my low volume moderate arch feet than the Birkenstock Arizona.

I stubbed my right big toe very badly years ago and also have a residual bump on the inner side/top of my foot, so I adjust the strap near the ankle to be more snug for less pulling on the forefoot. Have worn them all summer with no problems!

Oh OUCH, Joy! Foot bones are very delicate.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Thank you, Janet, for addressing this problem. I have a pile of shoes too stretched out to stay on my feet that will be cleaned up and donated. My feet BC ( before children) were narrow but now not as much. I do not wear sandals but have had luck with Vionic brand not stretching. The problem is that you can't tell when shoes are new what they will do in a season. I also have a problem with bones on the top of my feet and avoid memory foam. I had not thought of passed heavy things dropped on them. That explains a lot. I also managed once to drive a pitch fork though a foot while gardening barefooted. That probably did some damage.

I found the Ecco Yucatan sandal a bit narrow for my foot, but they are quite an attractive sport sandal. I thought it looked very pretty on my foot and it didn't feel sloppy in any way. Not sure it qualifies as totally easy to get in and out of, but I think once the initial fit was adjusted it would be a matter of opening and closing the ankle strap...
https://ca.ecco.com/en/ecco-yu.....;utm_id=go

Hi all!

My very old Chaco flip-flop style sport sandals are showing a lot of wear and tear. They haven’t broken — yet. I’ll wear them until they die, at the very least as my “keep beside the back door to run the trash out” shoes. But I’m starting to keep an eye out for a replacement.

A couple of years ago, when I first saw these starting to get seriously worn, I got a pair of Olukai flip flops, but they ended up pressing on a bone in the top of my left foot that I think got broken when I dropped a heavy drawer on it over a decade ago. I had to donate those in short order. I’ve tried a pair or two here and there, but many sandals are too wide or too loose in the straps for me. Some of the adjustable ones have a lot of strap left over by the time I cinch them up, which is not great either. And I have moderate arches so Birks and the like, with highly molded footbeds, don’t fit my comfort needs.

Has anyone found a decent-enough looking sandal for my type of feet? I don’t want super gearish looking ones — I prefer a slightly more minimal style that is easier to slip on without a lot of adjustment every time. The new Chaco flip flops are not like my old ones — I think they started making them wider, sigh.

Thanks in advance!
