Joy, it is sweet of you to be concerned. I appreciate it. My glasses scratched me because the metal bit--just under the nose piece--wore away--it's all pitted--so it is the frame itself which has scratched me, not the nose pieces.

But you are right--I need to stay away from metal as best I can--it can cause frost bite when sitting on my face in extreme cold (and there's no way to take them off and still function). That's an interesting point about the weight. I hadn't known that. My glasses--like yours--are not light.

I have been looking through the Bevel site Suz linked to--and I have found several pairs of acetate frames to try--I was even in a shop which carried Bevel lenses today but couldn't stay and browse. I'll go tomorrow!

I really like the pink ones in #1! I can't see the arms enough on the other pairs to see how wide they are. Is there some reason why you are trying on specs with those little nose pieces like in 2 & 3 ,especially after your old glasses scratched you? I find the plastic glasses like 1 so much more comfortable, especially as I need thicker lenses. I was told that the weight of the glasses is more evenly distributed instead of all the weight resting on the small pieces that dig into your nose.

Thank you Jackiec! I will try another shop tomorrow--let's see if someone else has that shape in a more versatile colour.
This could take a long time.

What that means is that your lens spaces are 50 mm across and the bridge is 18mm. 135mm may be the temple length.

The manufacturer that works really well for me is Bevel. http://www.bevelspecs.com

They tend to fit people who need a smaller frame.

One pair I have is this one: http://www.bevelspecs.com/cata.....-8631/BKPD

My others are an older model -- no longer in their catalogue: http://store.theeyebar.net/eye.....ch/dp/9825 These ones are a bit too large in the bridge but I had my optician build it up a little bit. They still fall down, but I've never had a pair of acetate glasses that don't in my entire life.

You have such pretty eyes!

I am notoriously not good at choosing specs. Would explain why I hang onto what I have for years and years. My current ones I just bought online... next time I'm coming to YLF for some real help.

That said, I kinda like the first ones, except not sure that the pink is super versatile. Something about how they frame your eyes appeals to me.

Of course take it with a grain of salt b/c I'm no pro. Wonder if Angie will chime in?...I'm curious.

Suz--what was the name of the manufacturer?

I just looked at the numbers on the arms of my current glasses--lots of numbers!

B 1052 1003 50[]18 135

Thanks Sparks. Yes, the pattern in #3 causes me pause, too. I keep my glasses a long time (this pair, seven years, the previous, 10) --so they need to be a bit on the classic side. (I'm not sure any of these are.)

I didn't think I would but I really like the pink. Can you work with that colour? It makes your eyes look so blue. Not keen on (2) as they look small. (3) are OK but not convinced by the pattern.

I understand. I also have a very high RX. It is a delicate balance finding a frame that will work for me at all.

I do opt for extra thin lenses. I pretty much have to. I don't get the top of the line ones, but glasses are still a very expensive purchase for me.

The larger number says how wide the space for each lens is (the ones I'm wearing now are 50mm.) The smaller number is the bridge size.

It's amazing how many pair you sometimes need to try! I got lucky when I found one manufacturer whose frames seem to work especially well for me. I now own two pairs of glasses from this company and was seriously tempted by a third not long ago! I didn't buy them (simply because of the overall expense) -- but honestly, I really felt like it.

Thank you, Suz! The salesperson popped the glass out of the frames so there wouldn't be glare in the pics--so this is probably the best you will ever see my eyes.

So that's how you know the info! I have further considerations in that lenses will be thicker the larger the frame--and the edges can cause a lot of refraction (that is, my eyes and face inside the area of the glasses look smaller than the rest of my face). I really have to rely on the professionals to help with that--and we discuss it. That's why this was round two. I hadn't shown the saleswoman my prescription until we went to take the pictures and all the frames we chose the first time around would have resulted in super thick lenses which would be very costly to "fix."

However, next time I will look at the arms and jot down the info to see if I can learn something from that.

They are all so very different and do such different things that I haven't a clue how to choose between them.

(1) was just for fun--pink is much too bossy a colour for me to happy to wear them as my every day glasses.

as for whether I prefer 2 or 3 --I don't know yet-- for me, they are different style statements but I can't articulate either one.

Look at your gorgeous blue eyes!!

I find the pink ones a huge amount of fun. Would you tire of them if they are your only specs? I am not sure the size is right on them -- in these ones your eyes seem more centred than in the others but the bottom of the frames maybe is not wide enough?

Have you checked the sizes of the frames? It can be useful to get a good sense of what approximate frame size you need. It may vary a bit by specific frame, but you can get a rough ballpark of what width and bridge size fits you best. It will say on the arm of the glasses.

I like 1, but I don't think the angle of the glasses is quite right for your face ... it's off a little bit; but the colour is bright and cheerful; I really like it.

I think 2 are too small and 3 ... well, some of your other picks were a lot better.

You know... I really really like the pink (1) on you for some reason. Somehow I feel that it lights up your face. I think 3 overall (logically speaking) works best for you. The red looks more "neutral" and is therefore more versatile. The shape is perfect for your face too. I like the colour of purple but I'm not in love with the frames (2).

or 3, depending on how we count this!

Background: I bought a pair of glasses. After getting feedback on the forum, I returned them.
Then, I tried on two pair from lenscrafters and neither were contenders.
Today I went to another store and after circling round the shop twice, found these three pair.
1. Pink! For fun.
2. Pretty purple, and
3. Red. These are actually red and black striped. (No, that isn't your moniter going wonky!)

What do you think?
Thanks!
