I was super stressed before I went shopping yesterday to look, but now I'm excited because I know you guys wont let me buy anything too horrible!

I looked at the pictures before I read the comments and I will be just endorsing most of the ladies: I love red frames on you and the size/shape of #4 is the best for you. I hope you can find *the* pair soon!

#4 and the red pair are my favorites, but I agree that they are big. I looked through the pictures and #4 looked best for reasons I can't identify. It just looked good. I know I'm drawn to the red pair for the color. So, if you could find #4 in a red narrower frame, it would be fab!

They make junior sized glasses now, that don't look juvenile. Maybe you can try some of those.

Thanks Maya - I'll have to get the measurements because that will probably save me a whole lot of time trying on ones that don't fit...

It sounds like I need petite frames too - this was the optical superstore and I think they mainly focus on budget lines, so I suspect I will have more luck in the stores that stock some of the more upmarket ranges.

Can I measure my current ones at home? Do you know what the "47" bit actually is? I have a vague recollection that there are measurements for the width and height of the frames, and also the wing length? My current ones have "135" on them - i think that's wing length and there's also a "35", but I can't make out the rest of the numbers - they are almost 3 years old and have been worn every single day so its all worn off...

I kind of want to go spec shopping again now - I'm not going to be happy until I'm sorted LOL

Theresa, I ended up investing in a pricey brand (bevel spectacles) because they made petite frames. I'm glad I did because I wear them all the time now due to my chronic dry eye. I have worn kids glasses before, but it's hard to find interesting ones that aren't juvenile.

If you check the eye measurement of the styles that don't fit you can get an idea of what to rule out. I need a 47mm eye. Most are 50-53 so they just don't fit. 47 is hard to find but they do exist! Persevere!

Thanks Angie,

I just want to clarify though - are we looking at the 4th image in the album, or the one I have actually named #4?

They didn't upload in order and now that I've realised that I figured I need to be sure we are all talking about the same thing!

#4 is the closest best fit, and the colour is pretty too. The rest are too wide and big for your delicate face. (You look fantastic in the deep red colour as well).

#4 is not far off though,Theresa. Just a little tweaking with that rectangular type of frame and you are there :0). Well done!

Thanks girls - you've reinforced what I was thinking!

I always really struggle to get specs to fit Even my current pair constantly slip down my nose, but despite having them adjusted several times, and even trying different sized/shaped nose-pad thingys it just doesn't help. I honestly can't remember ever having a pair that stayed put...

Its almost like I don't have enough of a nose to hold them on LOL And my face seems crooked - or maybe my ears are hehehe

After sleeping on it, and having another look at the pics, I really like #4 - but they would need to be much smaller...

I'll go find Maya's archives and see what she found... I'm starting to think I need to head to the kids section!

Stay tuned for more pics from this week!

I actually think you look really great in the rectangular frames, but I agree that you should find a pair that fit your face better (that center your eyes, etc.)

I like the more rounded shapes better than the rectangular ones. And almost all of these seem too wide for your face - did you see any that were narrower?

Theresa, I agree with you that a lot of the frames seem big for your face. To me, #3 seems like the best fit out of the bunch - your eyes are more centered in the frames than in any of the others. The frame itself might be a tad wide, but to me they still look more in scale with your eyes/face than the others. (I like the blue color, too.) But I'd recommend that you keep looking until you find one that you *really* love - glasses are a big investment.

I remember that Maya needed a smaller pair of glasses last spring when she was searching - perhaps she can share some brands that worked for her, or maybe you'll want to browse through her archives?

I like #5 and #10, but if you're not in love with any of them then I'd agree with you about continuing the search.

As for the excess area under the eyes - how do the frames sit on your nose? I had a similar problem, and it was fixed by bringing in the nose-piece-doohickey (I wonder what those bits are called?) so that it sat a bit higher on my nose.

Well, Miss 5 & I hit one of our optometrists today and here are the results.

I tried to try on a few different colours/styles to get an idea, but i did find myself gravitating towards the brown/black, blue and red frames.

I don't know if I really LOVE any of these, but it was only our first shop, so throughout the week I'll try and get to another couple.

The guy said they could get pretty much any style in a variety of colours, so I guess that's always something to consider.

So I guess, any feedback that might make the next few shops easier would be great! I think I need quite small frames - most of them seemed huge and just overtook my whole face... Even a lot of these I think are too big - lots of excess area under the eye itself.

Oh here's the link LOL
