Every day I'd come home from school to an empty house and have this blissful experience of putting on a record and being completely somewhere else for an hour or so. I could play their songs in my head as if I were really hearing them too. In fact when recalling Beatles songs, I have perfect pitch, they are so ingrained in me (I just heard I'll Get You in my head, haven't listened to it for years, tested it - yep, it's accurate). Their sound, harmonies, everything about them was transporting.
