That's a beautiful sweater - argyle is a print that I like on others because I am not into the traditional argyle prints. I do have some pink argyle print socks from JW Anderson for Uniqlo!

Oh boy the Shopbop is a tough decision, both options would be lovely on you.

Which color do you have less of in your wardrobe? I'd purchase the less common color because it'll be a refreshing change from your more dominant color in your palette.

But if both are equally represented than I vote for the blue, because I'm on team blue!

I really like that Massimo Dutti one! The blue and burgundy are good, too. Maybe more versatile, because you wouldn't need a visible underlayer with them. You might not with the v-neck either; it's hard to tell.

back to add: I prefer the burgundy; to me, the color combo works more against argyle's preppy association.

I love that one! Blue and cool brown together are part of my aspirational palette. Wish it were crew neck. I like how it looks boxy at the hem, since welted hems ride up on me.

That is a nice one! Love the placement of the blue, I think that makes it more modern. I like argyle but am not sure if I have had any since I was young. Worth keeping an eye out for a fun item.

Carla, your asymmetrical cardigan sounds great! Also, you have a good memory. I have a 30-year-old sort of simplified argyle (no thin lines, just the diamond shapes) sweater in shades of olive. It’s actually a cardigan, which is not my thing, but I wear it backwards! It’s very sentimental as my mom bought it for me — I only have a couple pieces left that are wearable from her, so I’ll probably never give it away.

I have a wool ski quarter-zip sweater from Norway from 10 years ago that has some argyle accents on the sleeve and collar. It’s quite fitted and it’s red, both of which are not my favorite things anymore, but I keep it to wear when the mood hits. It’s a very nice piece that I’ll keep for a long time.

I might still have my old Esprit periwinkle blue argyle sweater packed away somewhere. Another piece that’s probably 20 years old, I think I got it when mom was still alive. A fabulous and hard to find color palette. It was finally starting to get a little worn looking, so I may have donated it, but it might be in a holding zone box somewhere. I kind of hope so — I’m starting to appreciate even things with a little patina of wear these days.

Roberta, I like the exaggerated vertical of the pattern on those sweaters!

Thank you for the input re MD. I may try!

Given the colors, I bet this sweater would look amazing on you. I have one cardigan with some argyle, oriented vertically on the side. Besides my scarves, it’s one of the few patterned pieces I keep in my wardrobe.

I'll second that shipping and returns are easy - at least here in Canada- with MD. I find the fit (from the few pieces I do have) to be consistent and true to regular -size, whatever that is, lol. That's a great sweater for you ! I wouldn't ever wear argyle as it's too masculine and traditional for me (I have an irrational fear of looking masculine ) but that's the beauty of fashion and style - we are all different and should be! Love the colourway of this sweater for you too .

What a fun set of threads. I love a lot of different patterns, and have to be restrained from having too many in my closet. However, I don’t tend to pick argyle, tartan, or most other plaids. Or many geometric patterns.

I’m starting to see argyle pop up in what’s trending for F/W. I’m kinda excited — I’ve always liked argyle but I tend to like it most with a little twist — a slightly oversized or off-center pattern, an unusual fit, interesting color palette, etc. Not a typical cardigan or too traditional version.

The one below caught my eye because of the blue, even though it looks pretty traditional. I’d do a slightly cropped boxy version. I’d be tempted to order to try, but I have zero experience with MD and am not confident of sizing, and I’m not sure about returns.

Anyone else happy to see the return of argyle?
