When I don't want to belt a trench, ( I have three!). I tie the belt in back. Keeps it out of the way and I can easily put it on/ take it off.

Hi Joy. I will have to look closer at that post. I hadn't noticed so thanks for pointing it out. Could be good news if that style is mentioned in a spring 2015 post!

Janet, this was the kind of feedback I was looking for. Thanks. I think maybe I need to make time to go see it in person again and take a closer look while trying it on again. I recall thinking the fit was good, I liked the weight and the fabric seemed nice. I actually thought it was navy but when I got home and looked it up online it said it is black - but there is a review saying the user thought it was blue as well, so I think my perception of the color must be right. It has a lot of things going for it. I just need to see if the belt is a deal breaker. Oh and I think maybe it has a zipper and snaps? Something else to check. Anyway thanks for the spot on reply.

I have a belted jacket in a similar length -- but it's actually a stiffer leather jacket by Belstaff. It looks best zipped up and belted, so I need to wear it on a day when I'm prepared to commit to that look and don't just want a throw-on-and-off piece.

This jacket has two advantages over mine -- it's lighter and more flexible/fluid, and it snaps rather than zips, if I am seeing it correctly. It may hang better open and unbelted than my jacket does.

The belting reminds me of a trench coat. It's one of the things I just accept with that style -- the advantage is that it's nice for a bit of waist definition, the disadvantage is that it's another step in getting ready to go out to tie or fasten the belt. Not a huge deal in my opinion, but there are times I want to wear it open, and the belt flapping around can be annoying. Or it can get closed in the car door.

I have no experience, but it reminds me of the belted jackets mentioned in Angie's blog post on Spring 2015 trends that she noted on the runway.

Anyone have any experience or input on this jacket? It is the BR Field Jacket. I saw it in store recently and am pondering it as a mid-weight jacket (a wardrobe hole of mine right now). Holding me back is the belt, I forgot about that detail when I tried it on and I'm not sure I want the fuss. Anyone have this piece or something similar and can offer input?
