Fun post. They could have done a better job on the dress. But maybe that was the idea.

The jeans on the belt are hilarious! A sort of cross between a lingerie suspender belt and jeans. A fun post.

The idea of clear plastic jeans is something I often think about when I'm going through airport security.

Interesting design. It's clever, but it bugs me that the pants aren't right side up. Whatever you put in those pockets would fall right out.

The dress looks well designed from what I can tell. I wouldn't be tempted to buy it at that price, but I don't buy anything at that price. I would absolutely try it on if I had a chance, just to see if it the design meets the concept.

I'm getting a bit nostalgic for the mid-70's maxi skirts we made out of our old jeans by opening up the seams and adding fabric. Or I should say, that my dear Mom made - I just added the rhinestone embelishment. And how I envied one girl who made her flares extra flare-y by inserting gores (I think that is the right word) of bandana fabric.

I'm sorry, but that dress is not appealing to me at all. And that's saying a lot, considering how shredded and stained and weird I like some of my clothes to be. If I saw that dress on Etsy, I'd still scroll right past it because it is that unappealing to me no matter who makes it. Maybe it's just because I don't like dresses; or maybe it that I just find the idea as unappealing as I always found those denim skirts made out of old jeans.

I'm not surprised by it, considering the plastic knee window jeans and those snap apart north jeans (both of which were unappealing to me also). I also won't be surprised when I see dupes popping up on Etsy LOL

Really a fun link! I got a good laugh when I scrolled down and saw amazing items like:
- 'jeans which attach legs to a denim belt' (A fresh, exciting outfit for belt lovers? Or for those who are unable to decide whether they will wear jeans or not? Also, an interesting possibility for those who may want to wear jeans on only one leg!)
- 'detachable jeans which can be unbuttoned just below your crotch' (Unless you are very fond of your upper thighs, try to avoid being watched or photographed from behind!)
- another pair of clear plastic jeans (the modern version of "the emperor's new clothes")
Fascinating inventions, indeed. What I find most fascinating, however, is how much some people are willing to pay for these crazy jeans.

That's true. It's really a cute design, but co-opting poverty is not cute, just insulting.

OT: I've been brushing up on the theory of deconstructionism. I have to say, it's made my head hurt in a way it never did in high school. Have to go back to the children's version. Lol. Like relativism, I'm not quite sure it's meant to be 'an applied science.' What is the point, you might say, of one pants leg?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/fem.....jeans.html

I actually see a great deal of cleverness in this design, in an "I wish I could DIY that" sort of way, and if it were being sold on Etsy for a fraction of the price I doubt we'd see people whinging about it. It's precisely the "designer" label and marketing and pricetag that riles people and makes it look ridiculous.
