Maya, I know what you mean. They are adorable on you, but if it doesn't work out then maybe it's not meant to be. That money could be put into any number of very fab items. Fingers-crossed that the smaller size works!

I gave up on OTK boots when I couldn't get any pair on my foot (my calves aren't even that bit, but it was either not fitting my calf or not fitting my thighs - ugh).

I'm getting tired of exposed zippers. Seriously. It's getting to a point where they are just being slapped on everything to add edge. Do designers not realize that once something is everywhere, it isn't edgy anymore?

I wore my boots with thick cotton socks. I also had my leans as an additional layer. I thought maybe they were what was rubbing, so I rolled them up a bit, but that actually made it worse.

I have some hope that the 6.5's will work. And if not, at least I know I tried everything.

Have you ever looked so long and so hard and gotten so frustrated over something that you started losing interest in it? That's how I'm starting to feel about OTK boots.

I tried on some similar MK boots and the zipper just looked too cheap. Maya, I'm sure part of it was sizing up and having too much heel slippage. I was also going to ask if you had been wearing nice thick socks (can you wear wool socks?)? That might help cushion the seam. I'm also sure that over time they'll break in a bit, since they leather is such high quality. It's that break in period that is the killer! I've had my shoes cut me, too, (usually the heel) and it is so hard to find shoes after that don't rub on the same spot! What about your new clogs...those would leave your tender heel alone, yes?

I didn't wear them for long Shana. Wearing them around the house is completely useless. I just don't know how well they'll hold up over time.

I took them back today, and they are sending me a 6.5 to see if that helps. I tried them on in the suede for size, and they felt ok but it was hard to tell since I didn't have socks with me. The salesman said sizing up might be causing my heel to slip too much. Not a big deal most of the time, but these are very fitted boots. So I guess we'll see how they feel. My other SW's are 6.5s and they feel fine, so that might be it. I just hope they're wide enough. I didn't really feel my heel slipping in the 7's so I'm not even sure if that's the problem. He also said to try massaging the leather and it will hopefully soften it up.

I also tried two other styles:

http://www1.bloomingdales.com/.....Type=PDPZ1

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....rchresults

I almost got the Michael Kors boots but the all-fabric backing made me hesitant, and I found the silver zipper a little garish and tacky rather than cool (and of course I still resent him as a person...). The Via Spigas could work, but I didn't like the look as much. Both were much cheaper though.

Oh wow, I am just seeing this. This sucks, Maya. They looked so awesome on you!! I hope the cobbler can do something to help. DId you wear them out the very first time for a long day??? These days, I find myself ramping up the time I wear my shoes before I take them out for a full day - so start with 2 hours, then 4, then 8... I find that even wearing them around the house is not a good indicator of how comfy they will be ultimately.

Maybe you can get one of those heel cushions that Dr Scholls makes to cover the rubbing heel? I know walgreens carries them. And they are pretty flexible so you can move them around a bit to find the sweet spot that is rubbing.

The foot part is comfy so I'd be hesitant to size down. I'm not sure. I stuffed some napkins in the area where they hurt which temporarily helped by buffering the seam, so I have some hope that it just needs a bit of cushion. I think it just tapers in too much at the wrong spot. It's supposed to taper in at the ankle and for me it's lower than my ankle so that stiff seam digs in. I don't know how to explain this well. I'm sleepy and haven't had my nightly cup of tea yet :\

That's too bad, Maya. I'm sorry :(.

These boots are 12-hour shoes on my feet. Like slippers. I have worn them a dozen times already. Heavenly, and that's been the verdict with other clients too.

So mine are half a size smaller and you have shorter feet than I do. I wonder if there is too much space?

I have narrow heels too, Anne (I know that's your name but I keep calling you Sparky..).

It's not pinching, it's just very stiff because of that weird reinforcement panel. I didn't notice at all when wearing them around the house. I can't tell if it's the stiffness of that area or if the seam is causing the irritation. If it's just the seam, then a cushion would probably help. But if it's because it doesn't have enough give to let my ankle/heel flex properly, I don't know if it can be fixed. I might try to have it stretched in that area. I really, really want them to work. Heaven knows how much trouble I went through to keep them!

Hopefully they'll work out better for you than for me. I doubt Angie had any issues with them and it looks like Anna didn't either, so as usual it's just me and my weird foot issues

Wow, Maya, that's terrible! [You limping home in bloody socks put the image of you as a stalwart Red Sox pitcher, bleeding out of his socks while pitching to a World Series championship. Uh, focus, Anne, focus!]

I have only worn my boots around the house. The weather has only now turned crispy cool enough for me to wear them. I was going to wear them this weekend but realized the sweater dresses I had matched them with in my head were too long. So I am still playing around with outfits and haven't worn them out. They don't have any rubbing for me so far but I do have a narrow heel.

Would a cushion in the back of the heel help??

I guess I'll have to take them to a cobbler and see if they have any ideas. Otherwise I have to return, which breaks my heart. I was so excited to start wearing them, and I have had absolutely no luck finding any other OTK boots that fit :(

And now on top of that I have to fret about what to wear in the meantime that won't irritate my tender wounds...

Probably Star Lings since they are very wide and loose around the ankle. I don't know what I'd do without those boots.

I looked at the inside of the boots when I got home. Apparently there is some kind of reinforcement built into the back of the heel area that makes it stiffer. It's probably meant for support or something, but it really did me in. I was limping all the way home and have to wash the blood off my socks...

Only my feet could be fussy enough to reject a pair of $600 boots. Sigh.

I wore mine for the first time today and I'm horrified! They are KILLING the back of my heel/ankle. It's stiffer in that area than it is anywhere else, and there's a weird horizontal seam on the inside that doesn't help. I didn't notice this at all when I wore them around the house and it's not something I usually have a problem with, but it's rubbing badly in that area. I am wearing socks and leans but it's still a problem. Have either of you noticed this or is it just me? I'm going to have to return them to Nordies if this isn't resolved. It's heinously painful.

:(
