Elly it's so good to hear from you again, but I'm sorry for the rough time you've been having. Medical issues, rocky work situations, and financial concerns, especially when they hit all at the same time, can overwhelm and leave us with little time and energy for anything else.

That's where YLF comes in, though, because it doesn't place any demands on us, unlike other parts of our lives. Treat it as a bit of playtime to counterbalance all those responsibilities. I know that I depended on this site during the final stages of my mom's life last year. Talking about pant lengths and debating voluminous toppers was the release I sorely needed during those months. Those "frivolous " topics kept me sane enough to deal with what needed to be done without being dragged down by situations beyond my control.

So stop by, look at a couple of threads, post a comment or two, and indulge in a few minutes away from all your challenges. Welcome back!

You've been missed, no doubt about it. I was thinking about not seeing you post. But it's like music from another room, singing along with it, and when the train finishes passing by... And we're all still perfect in sync... Anyways, I think we're in not unlike boats with contract jobs, having plenty to do at home, health insurance, and bosses on their way out... I remind myself a lot that happiness comes from nowhere and for no reason, unlike challenges and obstacles. Not that I didn't give my doctor the look when she said my mom could help me deal with the insurance people (which is how I got dropped most recently, trying to switch mailing addresses) (ahahaha!! ohmigosh, the world is nutty pup!) (and I just got the mail again today, and what do you know - insurance papers once again sent to the wrong place! ahaha!!).

Welcome back ! I'm sorry you've had such a tough time - work, family illness, and insurance problems are all high stress. As much as you can, try to take good care of yourself and give yourself little treats - even if it's only taking time to watch the sunset.

As far as clothing goes, consignment stores and goodwill stores in good neighborhoods can yield great finds. I've also had good luck lately at Old Navy, Uniqlo, and even at the sale rack at Banana Republic. Or if you have the energy, a clothing swap meet with friends can be a fun thing.

I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties, Elly. I know how it feels if clothes wear out faster than you can spend on replacements... Have you thought about buying a few things secondhand to tide you over?

Ladies,

I just thought I'd stop in and apologize for my lack of presence here. My life has been very hectic the last few months and my forum participation has suffered.

The situation with my boss became increasingly hostile leading up to the announcement of her retirement and onward until the actual event. She actually started saying things like, "You must really hate your family," and "I think you hate me," to myself and co-workers. She retired April 30th and has been out of the office for a week and things are improving, but it is still stressful to be at work-- especially since she has been invited back for small things. I've also been working overtime on contract.

I have 6 months left on my current project and had already interviewed for a job for after, but now the director of that organization is leaving which leaves my funding and employment up in the air.

In other news, my mother has been very sick with what we believe might be the beginning of COPD because of chronic bronchitis. She currently has a chest infection and I've been home with her because she is on oxygen, etc.

I was previously insured through a group situation with a family member and he has decided to leave the group plan which means I can no longer keep my medical insurance and will have to go through the exchange, which is significantly more expensive for me with poorer coverage. I already pay very high medical bills because of my heart condition and ongoing prescriptions and care. Also, it means I will likely have to switch insurance 3 times in a single year.

The financial unsure feelings have put a bit of a cramp in my shopping style as I'm attempting to save money between now and Sept. while I'm still under contract. I felt I shopped "a lot" buy my standards this past fall buy managed to wear out a good chunk of the clothing I bought during that time period, which means I obviously didn't have enough clothing. Looking at my spring and summer wardrobe I could use to add some pieces.

Anyway, I apologize for being a flake, and am glad to be back.
