always trying, I hear that! But I think YLF is great for showing trends but not pushing them, and lots of posters show how they personalized something.

Some of the looks you mentioned include ones that could work for me in one way but not another--for example, the semi-tuck is useful for proportions for me, and for breaking up horizontal line and creating hi-low from non-hi-low garment, but it is too casual for work and sometimes feels too contrived in some of my social circles. So I actually like it, but it just hasn't been as wearable for me as for some people.

Similary, a shirttail hem is flattering--I love wearing that shape of hem-- but the untucked shirt look and sweater combo is also too casual (according to my goals, that is) for work. This is something I would wear for casual, but often the exact lengths are hard to get right, and so I just haven't pursued vigorously.

The "naked ankle" or better, top of foot, I really warmed up to and thought gives me a little more dressy and feminine vibe with some oxford outfits, and so I will do while wearing nude knee-highs for comfort, but that's not mid-winter, and I don't always have pants the right length, so still wear oxfords with trouser socks and covered by pants, for some outfits. No truly bare feet for me either, even in hot weather, with leather shoes --for me that's sandals only and even preferably some absorbent footbed, like fabric or suede.

For rolling pants, I go both ways--as with the exposed ankle, I found a few looks I really liked, but I still like to wear longer pants scrunched over the top of sneakers. At work I found a cuffed ankle pant can work, but rolled....again, feels contrived, in that setting, so a more usable style is tapered full length.

Anyway, I've been enjoying trying some things, but not feeling compelled, either, and for me it's very specific--i might how one pants-shoe combo looks with rolled hem and not another. So I pick and choose, and just have to " let the hems fall where they may".

Oh, I know what you mean. Sometimes I'm intentionally unflattering in my dressing just because I want to wear what I want to wear. And sometimes I think I'm wearing something flattering until I look at the photo. My feelings are:

1. Most people I encounter don't know or care what's in style or how it's supposed to be worn.

2. They are not rules, just suggestions.

3. You'll see how great I can look eventually, just not today.

I do have a Quirky Waif rule - one thing must always be off and askew. I think it's like that old thing about having one mistake on purpose, that artisans would do.

If I couldn't wear socks, I would have frostbite! :/ I do the same as you: wear socks that match the color of the shoes as closely as I can. If I am in the mood, I will wear some cute socks, but I have only two pairs of cute socks, so that doesn't happen very often.

I used to do the partial tuck quite a bit, but lately I have been gravitating toward complete tucking or not tucking at all. I feel like I am wanting simpler lines in my dressing. So you're not alone!

I can't manage that button down under sweater either... I tried, but I find it too uncomfortable for everyday way in most cases. And I'm not going barefeet in my closed shoes, I've always worn (often visible) socks. Sometimes the half tuck works, but either tucked or untucked is definitely easier.

There are current styles I just get wrong , on purpose , sometimes. By current styles I mean just how things are supposed to be worn, not like trends as such. Main one, everything worn without socks or hose-like wearing my sneakers without socks and showing a bit of ankle and leg.; Sometimes I don't roll my jeans and wear socks with my sneakers, and even occasionally I wear my wide leg jeans with flat shoes or sneakers. Sometimes I wear my cognac booties with socks that are as close to the color of the booties as I could find, and they show when sit down and the pant leg goes up a bit.., same with the black ones..i do this because I do not like the looks of my white with little red splotches skin showing.

Other styles I mostly don't do are the part tuck stuff..seems like it just doesn't work for me. Another one is the under layer of untucked button down under sweaters with the few inches of shirttrail shown below.
