Thanks everyone. So Angie are you saying that these leggings are not a great idea because they draw so much attention as leggings? Or that there are more than one focal points in this outfit?

I feel that leggings look best when they're: "woopsie daisy, I’ve accidently left my bloomers on and they look adorable".

They should not be the focal point of an outfit. Remember that you are a walking work of art with ONE focal point. The red leggings are clearly the focal point in this ensemble which is why I feel they don’t look quite right.

So maybe it's one of those proportion things? Shorter leggings with shorter skirt.... longer leggings with longer skirt?

(getting offline soon because I want to get to the mall before the hurricane hits)

Great question Shiny. I don't know the answer but I do have calf length leggings that I wear with dresses and they work great. Will be interesting to hear Angie's point of view. Also, Antje wore this length leggings to the YLF tea party and they worked well but her skirt was a lot shorter.

Agree, skirt too long for leggings, but question for Antje: are the leggings themselves too short? I'm not really sure how you are supposed to wear these. Should they come to your ankle?

I like Ana's idea of the leggings with a shirt dress. The skirt does need to be a bit shorter to work with the leggings. And I agree that the belt is too small to work with that shirt.

I agree that the skirt is too long. I would replace the belt with a statement necklace -- I think that would give the outfit pop and provide a leaner line top through skirt to leggings.

I agree that there is too many things going on. I'd loose the leggings and the belt and the outfit would probably work then. The leggings could work with a shorter and swingier skirt/dress.

Yup, I sadly agree, this particular skirt does not work with the tights after all Oh bummer, I know you were excited about trying out that combo.

The skirt will be great with boots, and for the tights I'd try a shorter skirt and maybe a non-belted top (to avoid another horizontal line). Do you have a skirt or dress that has some red in it? That might be another good way to avoid the color block effect that is a little bit going on in this outfit.

I agree with Ana, there are just too many layers that are breaking up your petite body. The belt looks like it might be a bit too low as well.

I am personally not a fan of skirts and leggings, so I can't really give any advice in that direction, but the outfit as a whole just seems to have too many disparate pieces. Try simplifying a bit. Sorry I'm not being more constructive, I just don't know how to make the skirt + leggings look work. I'm sure there are others who are better qualified to answer.

Ana on "Something's amiss"

I think the skirt is too long for leggings. There's a lot going on with all the horizontal lines created by the hem of the skirt, the bottom of the red leggings, and your shoes. That, paired with the skinny patent belt break you up in a lot of places. Does that make sense?

For this outfit, I'd take off the leggings, go with red shoes, and a wider waist belt (the skinny belt seems to get kind of lost paired with the blouse).

As far as the leggings--I have an olive green safari shirtdress that is a tad too short to wear bare legged (hits me 3 or so inches above the top of my knee). I might try to wear some red leggings I found at Express with it. I'm not sure what you have in your closet---do you have anything that's on the shorter side, or maybe has a deep slit up the middle (like a button up dress?). I think the skirt needs to be higher than knee length.

Does that make sense? I'm not sure if I am being very clear, sorry.

I was very excited to find red leggings when Antje and I went shopping last week. I also bought this Martin+Osa skirt and a narrower belt. However, I think something's still missing from this outfit. Is the belt too loose? What else? I'd love to create something edgy with the red leggings and would love any suggestions you might have. Thank you!
