My husband has ratcheted his style way up since we met 14 years ago, but my recent style evolution has him reconsidering things too. And Shannon and DragonflyJane, you are totally right about fit issues being a huge part of opting out of style! My husband is 6'6" and very slender, so it is extremely hard to find things that fit him off the rack. He has his work shirts custom made now, after years of living with shirts that bag all around his torso and come untucked because they're too short, and sleeves that only reach his wrist bone, at best. </p> <p>We're in NYC right now, and we've brought along his brother, who has lived in baggy denim and overalls (yes, really) and tee shirts for years. My husband took him shopping and got him a fab leather jacket, a nice striped scarf, a button front shirt, and a good pair of stylish but comfy and casual shoes. He looks -- and acts -- like a different man! He was skeptical at first, but once he tried things on, he started to see how well-fitting, well- made clothes can really help a person look their best. Since I've been on the forum, my own hubster has really upped his game too! He's 15 years older than me &amp; someone at work rather cruelly commented that he's scared I'm going to run off with a younger model - that is not going to happen even if he wears a sack! I asked him why he was starting to get more interested in his appearance &amp; he said he didn't want to feel like he was bringing my style down - bless him! He's 6 foot 4 and he is realising that after years of wearing badly fitting stuff there is a bigger world of choice out there for him thanks to the magic of the internet! He's also discovered the bootleg jean after years of wearing those awful "dad jeans" (LOL) and even his sons have complimented his new style. And not just any kind of shopping - he's asked for hipper (his word - I didn't have the heart to tell him "hip" wasn't an "in" word anymore!) dark wash jeans with perfect PPL (yes...thanks to YLF he knows about PPL), a really nice striped button down shirt, a cashmere crew neck sweater and a zip-up wool sweater. So the last two weekends in a row, off we went to MAN SHOP!!!</p> <p>We went to The Bay which carries some decent mens brands in my home town and ended up getting him a pair of Diesel jeans (gotta admit - his butt looked fantastic!), a Tommy Hilfiger cobalt blue and white striped button down, and from Gap, a charcoal cashmere crew neck and a plum colored wool zip up sweater. It's been amazing to me seeing how physically different he is when wearing these new items - he stands straighter, walks more confidently and has asked which of his three pairs of glasses look better with what. </p> <p>I've since asked him why the sudden desire to dress differently and shop and his answer was (and I quote) "Since you joined that YLF site, I see your style evolving and your confidence growing as you learn more about what works for you. I want that too and to look good holding your hand".</p> <p>So Angie and everyone here at YLF - THANKS from me and my hubby!!! </p>
