Love the effect! </p> <p>Oh, and I love “I am not fooling around”. </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/some-recent-wiws-thrifts-and-diys#post-2317411 Mon, 10 Apr 2023 12:18:48 +0000 Mary Beth (formerly LBD) 2317411@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>2023 has been a lot of fun for me, style-wise. &nbsp;Among other things, I joined a rock band a couple of months ago, and it’s having an impact on my style all-around! &nbsp;I didn’t start this year with any keywords or phrases or colors, but I have had a style phrase evolve, “I am not fooling* around”.</p> <p>It’s been a fun year for color, glam rock, 1990s throwbacks, and DIY projects. &nbsp;Here are some of the things I’ve been wearing…</p> <p>#1-6 &nbsp; In January, I went to Florida for a mini family reunion, and found these mermaid patches at Weeki Wachee. &nbsp;I knew immediately that I wanted a mermaid jacket. &nbsp;Six weeks of thrifting and I found a 100% cotton denim jacket. &nbsp;In addition to my mermaids, I used gold foil, fabric paint, my grandfather’s WWII US Army Air Force patch, my dad’s name tape from Vietnam era, a souvenir patch from my grandma’s village in England, and an antique lace flower and pin from the early 1900s. &nbsp;It’s over the top and probably a middle-aged cry for help, but I’ve worn it multiple times now and love it. &nbsp;</p> <p>#7-8 &nbsp;I thrifted this ivory ruffle blouse, wore it twice, hated the color, but couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it. &nbsp;I didn’t think polyester could be dyed, but I tried RIT Dyemore in Tropical Teal, and the yellow ivory skewed it to the green I was hoping for. &nbsp;I only have the one photo, but this top is going to be in regular rotation.</p> <p>#9-11 &nbsp;my heart skipped a beat when I saw this vest at a local Goodwill - I thought it was Gianni Versace at first glance. It’s Cache, 1990s, and pretty much a copycat. &nbsp;The buttons, even, mimic the Greek key and Medusa hair. &nbsp;I paired it with a black skirt for a jazz show I did. &nbsp;I love the 90s The Nanny throwback and will definitely be bringing this vest out again soon. &nbsp;</p> <p> <div></p> <p></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>(*The actual word is more decisive, but also off-color.)</div></p>
