Again, thank you all for taking the time to share your ideas. Lots here to consider. I'm being a bit resistant to throwing in a bunch of colour, but this jacket is definitely worth experimenting with. A mustard t would be great too, I think ....now that I'm warming up to this idea

I have always loved this jacket on you. It looks amazing; the color is just stunning and the structure of the jacket blows me away: the lapels! the shoulders! I love its sharpness. And maybe because of that, I prefer it paired with something much less sharp, like the silk-front tee. (I will always be attracted to the pairing of opposites.) I also like CocoLion's suggestion of (the elusive, perfect) dark wash straight leg jeans. (If you find them, let me know).

Swoon! That jacket! How about dark wash (clean, free of distressing and fading), black or blue-black jeans with it? I prefer the tee with it. Because I love the way a structured blazer goes with a tee.

Not sure what your tolerance is to colour mixing, and the blues below might not be the blue of your jacket, but do experiment with what is in your closet.

A column of white under, or beige/sand with gold or gold and pearls might work along the lines of the blue and gold tile pillar in Broklyn's post about the Met/Byzantine inspiration.

I adore the llama print blouse! I want a close-up shot of that pattern. What about olive pants with the blue blazer? I could see a dusty, muted olive functioning much like grey denim would here. I find it perennially difficult to find layering tops to go under blazers, especially statement blazers (or really any kind of statement topper). I tend to default to Breton tops... Oh, and I think your jewelry does a nice job of picking up the black button and helping it not look out of place.

Yeah - as long as it falls within the business casual framework. It is indeed liberating, but by the same token, having rules made getting dressed a whole lot simpler and faster. What I like is that dressing outside the norm there makes me look like the department manager, which is just fine with me

Thanks Angie. Interesting about brown. I can't visualize it, but I trust your judgment. Not sure I am interested in a brown pant though - that would require a whole new set of supporting pieces which I don't want to buy. I don't agree with the white jeans option either, although I know you'd wear it that way. I'd have to play with what to wear as a top with white jeans , and the footwear.......

The all-black work uniform has been abandoned, although I still fall back on it most days. Easy and comfortable. I'm the only one of about 10 of us who bothered to take advantage of the change. I wore this exact outfit yesterday and almost created a riot. Lol.

And no, those are llamas It is a pretty loose-fitting blouse, I agree. So easy to wear though and comfortable!

I LOVE the blazer with the tee. It layers better under the blazer than the blouse (cleaner fit). (Are those cute little doggies on the blouse?)

I would like to see the gorgeous turquoise with shades of brown. Newer, softer, and nicer with your hair and complexion. I do realize it has a black button, and why the tendency is to wear it with black.

FABULOUS with white jeans too :)

IMPORTANT: your new work dress code this year - the "all black" uniform - has put a lot of what you used to wear and love out of commission. Remember that's a reason for orphans when you edit, so don't get rid of items that you love and that fit just because you haven't worn them for a year, IYKWIM.

Thanks for your votes on which one was best, and on other colours to wear with the blazer. The jacket has prominent black buttons, which limits the colours that work with it. It is also an extremely saturated blue, almost neon but not quite, and needs an equally strong colour as a bottom . White bottoms look weird with it, at least to my eye, as an absence of colour isn't strong enough to balance the blue. I remember the mannequin it was displayed on wore faded grey jeans and a grey t with it - which I might try to replicate. But I'm sure glad I pulled it out and wore it again - got many comments and compliments throughout the day Fun to feel dressed up again.

Yes, this color is delicious nd wonderful cut blazer but to me begs for a white base (under it at least) rather then a column of black. I love both your renditions here but the graphic top would be my fave, what if wearing the same way like the second, with those gorgeous earings and no beads? YLFly sensational Lisa the black pants &mules are perfect!

ETA- I can so relate, years ago I admired a similar cut blazer with a drasticaly curved out rear view (think I have also posted a question about how to style it here, too:.-)) but didn't buy it for the reason that couldn't find the perfect top to work with it....

You are a knockout in that color jacket.
I am not sure why you would have trouble with it maybe you just need to play with it more.
Heck- you could wear that with jeans and a tee as far as I’m concerned!
Black pants, white pants , white tee, black tee, probably navy too ( hard to tell from picture) with sheath dress for date night or day wedding.
It is was too amazing on you to let it sit in closet

What a gorgeous color on you! I like the silhouette of the pants, too, with their creases (or piping—can’t really tell on my screen). I’d have a hard time choosing between the two shirts; they both look wonderful on you and with the outfit. Your reasons for choosing the silk sleeveless blouse make total sense.

You look beautiful. It's so satisfying to have something you like that is so pretty and so functional. The tops look great but the combination of the jacket, pants and shoes is so, so good. Especially like the repetition of a kind of pointy sharpness in the shoes and jacket.

If the solution this jacket- or any unique piece- offers is ‘ I love it and I feel fab when i wear it’ then I think we need to include some of those in our wardrobe too. Functional is great and nothing wrong with trying to maintain a certain size wardrobe but the happiness factor matters too. Is this one of those pieces for you?

That is a gorgeous jacket! why is it shorter in the back? it looks like it shouldn't be made that way, just saying, judging from the way it fits in the front. that is my color and I would style it with black, navy, white, patterned, or khaki bottoms. Those blouses you are wearing work well with it. I do like that saying, don't buy something just because you like it, buy it because it is a wardrobe solution. That is a good one for me to remember. I sometimes just know intuitively when I'm in a store if an item will be worn a good bit and if it fits into my closet, color-wise, etc. But there are times when I will like something a lot and get home to discover to make it work, I'll need to buy x and y. I have one orphan skirt in my closet to prove my point.

I'm glad you still have this jacket. I loved it when you bought it (almost copied you, too). I prefer it with the graphic tee.

And those mules make the whole look that much more current.

Thanks friends . I wore the second version to work today because the silk print blouse has more ease and flow to it , and hangs nicely below th blazer ( which is quite short in the back ....which is maybe why I don’t wear it as much as I should .) . I’ll give the silk front t ( it’s s piece of silk overtop the tshirt, not a graphic print ) another try next time . I’ve tried a column of black with this but it takes on a uniform feel that way . And makes me feel like I’m in a Star Trek movie
